SJ's Equine Bodyworks

SJ's Equine Bodyworks Provides Equine Bodywork to improve horse's overall flexion, balance and gait. SJ’ Equine Bodyworks is owned by and operated by Sarah Stewart.

Sarah has owned horses for 30 years and has been working in the equine industry since 2015. Sarah is a Reiki Master and qualified practitioner in Equine Tension Release Therapy (ETRT). SJ’s Equine Bodyworks can improve your horse’s flexibility, responsiveness, softness and overall structural balance, through the application of gentle pressure and manipulation of muscle and soft tissue techniques.

These techniques are designed to relax your horse so your horse can restore balance, heal, recover, and be comfortable ready for their next ride. If your horse is not performing at it’s best, than contact Sarah Stewart for a chat about your horse on 0427 676 226 or via messenger through Facebook.

Meet Sony the Pony 😍 standing at 8.3hh, with her owner, Sarah Clementi from Maitland Vale 😊 . Sony loves hanging out with a herd of 6 other horses, enjoys being part of a loving family, and getting the odd bodywork session from time to time.

My Hunter Valley trip this week saw me working with a wide range of horses and across many disciplines in the areas of Wattle Ponds, Maitland Vale, Clarence Town, Sawyers Gully, Bishops Bridge, Doyles Creek (Jerry's Plains region) and Scone.

Here's a snapshot of just some of the horses I worked with:

🐴 Young stock horses recently started under saddle, enjoying team penning, general riding, and stock horse challenges.
🐴 OTTB entering the casual riding or showing stage of their life.
🐴 Warmblood in training for the Dressage, Show jumping arena.
🐴 All-rounder Welsh ponies.

My job is a joy! I get to meet lovely people who want their horses to feel their best 🐎

The acknowledgement of gratitude from these horses makes my heart sing, and there is no better feeling 🙏 😁

Good morning to everyone 🙋‍♀️🐎

Life has been full on lately with both client sessions and my world outside the paddock.

I've been quiet on here, but I'm still here working with the horses I love. I look forward to reconnecting and sharing content with you very soon.

I put my heart and soul into my work as I adore my job! My hands can feel the tightness being held in key areas, causing your horse discomfort.

The aim of my work is to release holding patterns of tension, created by either strenuous competition riding, being started under saddle, compensating for an injury, or just general riding 🐎.

The benefits of bodywork lead to a more balanced horse, whereby you can either see or feel the difference as you ride. Such as smooth transitions or improved range of movement. These benefits extend not only to their physical well-being but also to their mental and emotional state, enabling your horse to be more settled, live, and perform at their best.

If this sounds like what your horse needs, then give me (Sarah) a call or send me a message 0427 676 226. I service the Tamworth, Hunter Valley, Liverpool Plains, and North West regions.

Today, the unthinkable has happened. Both my horses now rest in peace, only 3 months apart.

To my beautiful boys, Chance and Sunday, thank you for being my riding partner, a friend, and everything in between. I will miss calling out your names out across the paddock and hearing your whinny as you come up to greet me - I will always love you 💞

To my clients that are booked in for next week (2nd -6th June) in Scone, Aberdeen, Parkville, Nemingha, Moonbi, Bendemeer, Boggabri and Gunnedah, yes I will be there, and I look forward to working with your horses 🐎

The Oakton Lodge camp are still soaking in an incredible win, as Jason Fry and the ever-consistent OAKTON LODGE SUDDEN IMPRESSION (OAKTON LODGE SUDDEN IMPACT/ DEVILBEND PRINCESS) took out the Affinity Equine Insurance Five Year-Old Challenge late yesterday.

It comes as the homebred mare won last year's National Maturity as a four year-old, and was second in the National Futurity as a three year old before that. In all three years, she has won her Led section.

Prizes included a stallion service fee to STRUAN PARKS JUST LOOKING - HSH donated by Jay Charnock, a Barcoo bridle pack donated by Kent Saddlery, a trophy rug and garland, plus a stallion service fee to STRUAN PARKS JUST A MOMENT - HSH for the Highest-Placed Mare, also donated by Jay Charnock.

Our congratulations to all connections 👏

How do you know if your horse needs a bodywork session 🤔

Here are a few things to look out for:

🐴 Grouchy when putting rugs on or taking them off.
🐴 Fidgety when putting the saddle on.
🐴 Feeling a little "lazy" in the hind end.
🐴 Stepping short.
🐴 Having trouble holding a left or right lead or not wanting to turn one way.

These behaviours are common when horses are holding patterns of tension across various areas of their body.

If this sounds like your horse, then give me (Sarah) a call on 0427 676 226 or send me a message, and your horse will thank you 🐎😁

As we edge closer to the Easter break, find the joy of being with your equine friend.

If you're riding in a competition, enjoy the moment - you've got this!

If you are riding for fun, take a deep breath and feel the awareness in your body - are your shoulders, hips, knees or ankles tight?

Or maybe you're just "hanging out" with your horse as they recover from an injury.

Whatever it is, relax and enjoy the moment. Happy Easter 🐣🐎Photo Courtesy Pinterest. ❤️
