Pain isn’t just about what’s happening in your tissues. Yes tissue damage can contribute to pain. But pain is also shaped by sleep, fatigue, training load, stress, mood, movement habits, beliefs about pain… the list goes on!

That’s why 2 people with the same scan results can feel totally different levels of pain.

This graphic shows just how many factors can influence pain. It’s complex, but that’s actually good news. It means pain can change, even when your scans don’t

Deadlifts aren’t inherently “bad” for your back - and the research backs that up.

When performed with good technique and sensible progression, they can strengthen the very muscles that support your spine.

Back pain is multifactorial. It’s rarely caused by one exercise alone.
Stress, sleep, recovery, nutrition, load management and overall wellbeing all
play a role in how your body feels and performs.

So instead of fearing the movement, focus on:

✔️ Gradual load progression
✔️ Life factors outside the gym
✔️ Listening to your body

So many conversations about sleep lately in clinic. If you’re struggling with sleep it can feel like such a huge issue to fix. But there’s a few basics that can make a big difference!

Did you know that making your bed each morning can actually support better sleep at night? Getting into a made bed can:

- Create a clear cue for rest
- Improves comfort and sleep environment
- Reduces clutter and promotes calm
- Reinforces healthy sleep routines

It’s a non-negotiable for me, and I notice it makes such a big difference. Do you make your bed?
