Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD) is one of the conditions where I find acupuncture works surprisingly well. Something to be considered especially if you have maxed out medical treatment. Please see the link below where I share a case and thoughts on this condition.

Chronic or Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia can be one of those tricky things to treat in medicine. I talk about my own experiences treating this condition in the link below:

On another aside, I've changed my logo to something that is better reflective of laser acupuncture. The logo is of divergent laser beams bouncing back from a parabolic mirror and forming that nice pattern. I've removed the Yin and Yang from my logo as over the years, I find that approaching acupuncture treatment from a medical neuroanatomical perspective is much more effective.

Happy holidays everyone! This certainly has been a busy year and I certainly hope that my patients have been able to benefit from my treatments.

I find migraines particularly satisfying to treat with laser acupuncture as the treatment approach is simple and elegant. In the link below, I briefly go through a particular case where it seems to have been a game changer for an 18 year old male patient of mine.

I am very lucky to have a base of supportive patients and colleagues. For that I am very appreciative :) Thank you everyone for 2023 and here's to 2024 !

Occipital neuralgia is a subtype of headache that affects the back of the head (occipital region). It can present as a sharp piercing pain which can last from seconds to minutes. This may develop into debilitating chronic occipital pain. Recently had a case of chronic occipital neuralgia in which acupuncture made a big difference. Worth a read for anyone affected by this condition.

Starting from 2nd February 2023, I'll be providing bulk billed laser acupuncture at Hybrid Health Clinic in Panania - every second Thursday afternoon. I'm excited to be working with Michael (chiropractor), Steven (physiotherapist), and Shannon (exercise physiologist). They're great at what they do and I can attest to this because, in fact, I've been one of their patients since they opened up!

This is the only location where you actually can make an online booking with me 😅

Just to confirm, I will only be providing laser acupuncture services here - not general practice services.

It's been a little while since I've made a post. I recently treated a gentleman with chronic painful Phantom Limb Syndrome. He had pain in his perceived right leg. He suffered for this for decades, after becoming an amputee. Conventional management for this condition is unfortunately quite limited. Definitely not claiming a cure, but he had much better control after laser acupuncture treatment. More details in link below

I would like share a case of a gentleman with urinary incontinence (technically called neurogenic bladder) caused by a stroke that occurred after prostate surgery. He could barely hold his bladder for 10 minutes after drinking fluid and had to use an adult nappy. This was socially debilitating.

After 5 treatments, 2 weeks apart, he could hold his bladder for 4 hours after drinking and no longer needed to use a nappy. An amazing result that even I wasn't expecting!

This is a urinary incontinence from a very specific cause. I do think that acupuncture is applicable to other causes of urinary incontinence as well. It would be worth trialing acupuncture if you or someone you know has this condition, no matter what the cause.

I describe a case of neurogenic bladder (urinary incontinence) secondary to post-op stroke. Treated very effectively with laser acupuncture.

Thanks to word of mouth, I have been seeing a fair few patients from outside the Macarthur and Liverpool area. Thus I have decided to expand my reach in order to spread the laser acupuncture goodness even further. Starting next week I will be starting in two new locations: MERRYLANDS and PENRITH

Myhealth Merrylands
Shop 1002, Stockland Mall
MERRYLANDS NSW 2160
Thursdays 1 pm – 5 pm (2nd + 4th week of every month)
Ph: 9637 3688

Myhealth Penrith
Shop 017, Level 1 Westfield Penrith
585 High Street
PENRITH NSW 2750

Chipping Norton Medical Centre
Shop 14, Chipping Norton Market Plaza
CHIPPING NORTON NSW 2170
Mondays and Thursdays 2 - 5.30pm (1st + 3rd week of every month)
Ph: 9726 9300

I will only be at Merrylands and Penrith one afternoon per fortnight. This means that I will no longer be at Chipping Norton every week, but fortnightly instead.

My acupuncture patients know that I generally like to give it a minimum of 2 weeks between treatments so this arrangement should work well.

Important to note that my Eagle Vale hours are unchanged!

It's been too long since I've posted a case. I'm revisiting carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) again since I've been getting a run of cases recently. I've settled onto a set of laser acupuncture points for this condition which improves symptoms in about 60 - 70% of cases. If there are no aggravating factors, I can often reduce the inflammation enough to virtually bring the wrist back to normal.

The tricky thing with is that sometimes the improvements from acupuncture are completely negated by the aggravation of the wrist caused by work / life. No progress is made – it’s no worse but not better. In that case, one must consider a change of work duties / activities.

Often once the wrist improves, people with chronic pain will notice a pain from elsewhere like their chronically tight neck. That's a good sign that the wrist treatment is working. We then proceed to treating the next pains. So on and so forth.

In the link below, I describe and reflect on some CTS cases.

https://btlaseracupuncture.com.au/index.php/carpal-tunnel-syndrome/

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a very common disease in our society which stems from repetitive stress on the hands and wrists. Over time this leads to inflammation and swelling of an area of our wrist called the carpal tunnel.

Recently been having a few cases of treating Bell's Palsy with laser acupuncture so I thought I'd share my experience with it. Bell’s Palsy is a condition of acute onset usually one sided facial paralysis due to dysfunction of the facial nerve - cause is unknown. Most will recover on it's own over months but acupuncture can help speed up this recovery.

Bell's Palsy is a condition of acute onset facial paralysis due to dysfunction of the facial nerve. The presentation is quite confronting and usually patients rightly present to the emergency department worried about a stroke.

A Modern Form of an Ancient Art

UPDATE: Now open at Chipping Norton Medical Centre on Mondays and Thursdays 2-5pm. Call 9726 9300 to book an appointment.

I am a practicising GP in Eagle Vale (South West Sydney, NSW) with a subspecialty focus on laser acupuncture.

Laser acupuncture is a modern form of an ancient art. It is painless and quick, and is effective for many conditions. Unfortunately this is an under recognised and under-utilised technique. My aim is to slowly spread the word of laser acupuncture - one patient at a time.

Of course acupuncture is a complementary treatment. This means that it should only be done in conjunction with normal medical care like medications, physiotherapy exercises etc. Example: laser acupuncture may be able to reduce the amount pain medications required and in some cases even negate the need for it altogether.
