From the stage of Australian Idol to our dining area, singer and songwriter Jet Cameron put on a special show for residents today.

The 18-year-old, who has connections to Djangadi and Wiradjuri peoples in New South Wales, earned a Top 30 Golden Ticket on Australian Idol last year. Jet recently spoke with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service Brisbane Community Connector Ray on Triple A radio and jumped at the opportunity to perform for our Elders and residents.

It was a beautiful day to get out and about and watch the Titans versus Dolphins match on Sunday! 🏉🌞

Our residents Uncle Geoffrey, Peter, Tracy, Laura and Glenys went along with nursing staff Kya and Harmony, as well as Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service Brisbane Deadly Choices and Community Connections team members Nathan and Ray.

Ray said the residents absolutely loved the outing and got to experience going to a game for the first time. "Uncle Geoffrey had all his Titans gear on."

Thanks to the whole team for being part of making these special memories 💙

Happy 75th birthday to Uncle Geoffrey! 🎂🎉

It was such a special birthday with a surprise visit from the Family of League Foundation. Representatives Wayne and Roxanne brought a signed Titans jersey, tickets to a game and even a FaceTime with some of the players!

The icing on the cake for Uncle Geoffrey was having his family come to celebrate, including his brother Paul, daughter Mel, grandchildren Dakoda, Lauchlin and Liv and great grandson Jerimiah.

NAIDOC week is coming up and we know our community will be wondering what’s being planned at Jimbelunga this year. After a recent lockdown due to influenza, and with peak flu season in full swing, we’ve decided to postpone our celebrations to a later date to reduce the risk of illness spreading.

Residents and staff handle lockdowns with such resilience and keep one another smiling but we are doing our very best to avoid another lockdown being needed this flu season.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you later in the year! ❤️ 🖤 💛 💚 💙 🤍
