Vale Dr Abraham Mamootil.

Yesterday Murray Gardens and the whole community of Albury and surrounds, has lost a wonderful man, so we are flying the flag at half-mast for Dr Abraham Mamootil today.

Dr Mamootil was known to many residents in Holbrook and Albury as a very popular and dedicated dentist, but he was so much more.

The first Indian of Albury-Wodonga, an author, an artist both painting and woodworking, a tireless contributor to the Letters to the Editor of Border Mail, an avid history lover, a fantastic gardener even at 100 yrs of age growing his own vegetables, a lover of his community - founder of the Albury Wodonga Indian Australian Association, a servant of others and a wonderful cook.

Abraham was a resident at Murray Gardens for many years, and it was known by us that he was a very prominent member of the Indian community on the Border and a founding member of the Albury Wodonga Indian Australian Association.

Abraham only recently celebrated his 100th Birthday and he enjoyed a pre 100th Birthday celebration at Murray Gardens as well as a larger celebration on his actual birthday.

Abraham lived a full life of 100 yrs and four months and on behalf of the staff and residents at Murray Gardens we wish our heartfelt condolences to his family.

R.I.P Dr Saab (Dr Abraham Mammotil).

Rest In Peace in heaven with your dear wife Molly Didi.

I enjoyed a lovely High Tea with the Serviced Apartments resident’s today.

We get together every couple of months to discuss the residents needs and today we discussed the menu and we will be making some changes and adding a few yummy dishes residents expressed they would enjoy from time to time.

As I said today at our meeting, this is your home and it is my job to care for it and to work with you to make your retirement an enjoyable one. 😊

Murray Gardens were honoured to have the Probus Club of Central Albury enjoy a day here for their meeting, morning tea and lunch.

Today I had the pleasure of joining the Boccie group in the Village and it was so much fun.

We have a lot of groups in the village with many residents attending them each week.

If you're not a resident but would like to come and have a look at the Village and even join in on one of our groups or attend a Happy Hour, call us and book in a time to come and visit us.

Today we celebrated 1 years service for Julie Rainey at Murray Gardens.

Thank you to all the residents and members of the committee’s that came to thank Julie for her dedication to the residents and the village.

As Village Manager Julie is my rock. She supports me as Senior Admin, in all that I do and I am so thankful she is a part of our team at Retire Australia.

A Happy Australia Day for one of our residents today.
Kevin Burns being recognised at the Albury Australia Day Ceremony, with outstanding service awards, for his 80 years of service, in the Albury City Band.

Kevin has played many different instruments over the years, but for many years drums and percussion. These days, glockenspiel and xylophone.

Kevin has attended weekly rehearsals for 80 years as well as many committee meetings as he held numerous positions on the committee, monthly newsletter, 80 years of ANZAC Day marches, floral festival parades, Australia Day marches, Christmas parades, school fetes, fundraisers, Sunday band concerts, band competitions, and he has played with the Albury City Band for our residents for many years also.

Kevin is in his 90's and is always in attendance for weekly events in the community centre and shows us all, how important it is to be a part of a community and be social.

Congratulations Kevin, we are very proud and thank you for your service to the community.
