LEADERSHIP CLOWNS ARE COSTING YOU MONEY šŸ¤“šŸ¤”šŸ¤”

There you go, I said it.

I've seen it happen. Haven't you?

Here are just two examples I have seen recently:

āŒLeaders who don’t understand what it means to be 'intuitive'. They don't know how to tune into their intuition, or, when they do they don’t know how to ascertain the difference between ideas that have legs and those that are just a fantasy.
āŒLeaders who lack self-belief, who are scared of doing the wrong thing and looking silly. So they sit on their hands and stay with the safe status quo.

And sadly there are many more examples!

LEADERS STOP PROGRESS šŸ¤“

It's controversial but it's true. Have you seen this happen?

Here are two things I have seen showing how leaders stop positive progress:

āŒLeaders that are so ā€˜helpful’ that they take on the lion’s share of the work so the team doesn’t develop and instead become disengaged and bored. Meanwhile, the leader’s self-sacrifice breeds resent and martyrdom.

āŒLeaders that do not have realistic optimism and hide behind ā€œprudent analysisā€ to kybosh action. They constantly 'play it safe' and they don't know they are doing it, or are afraid to admit their fear.

And sadly there are many more examples...!

LEADERSHIP WRECKS GOOD STRATEGY

It's controversial but it's true. Have you seen this happen?

Here are just two of the things I see that thwart good strategy:
āŒLeaders that are uncomfortable with risk and they don’t know it or don’t admit it.
āŒLeaders who are so ā€˜hands off’ that they let their team drown in a confused scatter, which is really a misguided attempt to give them autonomy and avoid micromanaging.
..And there are many more.

It's puzzling.

Why do so many sophisticated organisations (large and small) fail to deliver on their strategic plan and goals? You’ve got a great product/service/idea and there is more than a market for it, great technology, huge resources, skilled people, plenty of financial backing, a great customer base, and reasonable economic conditions. But still, 12 months down the track you are in the same spot or backwards.
