Guided by our mission to build a joyful, kind community - one step at a time - our qualified early childhood teachers thoughtfully plan experiences that reflect each child’s interests, strengths, and stage of development. In a warm and inclusive environment where every child feels seen, heard, and celebrated, learning unfolds through meaningful play and hands-on exploration. Our programs are grounded in trusting relationships, built in partnership with families who we thank deeply for the privilege of walking alongside their children. This week the children have enjoyed exploring dinosaurs through frozen ice cube play and footprint painting. They loved watching the ice melt, colours mix, and creating art using cardboard dinosaur feet. Lots of fun, creativity and learning all round 🦖🎨

🎲 Roll & Count Fun! 🎨

This week the children enjoyed a hands-on numeracy activity called Roll and Count. Using a large sheet of paper covered in counting dots, each child took turns rolling a dice and then circling, colouring, or connecting the matching number of dots.

This playful activity supported early number recognition, counting skills, and turn-taking, all while keeping learning fun and interactive. The children were so engaged and loved seeing the page fill up with their own colourful contributions!

🐨 Koalas in the Creek! 🍫

Last week, the children had so much fun creating Koalas in the Creek as a sweet afternoon treat! They mixed wobbly jelly with chocolate koalas, using their senses, creativity and teamwork to bring this playful idea to life.

As we’re learning all about Australian animals this month, this hands-on experience was a fun and engaging way to connect our learning theme with a bit of joy (and yum 😋).

This week at Stepping Stones, the children have participated in a range of Australiana-inspired experiences. Outdoors, we explored Australian animal pictures and a tuff tray filled with Australian animal toys, while indoors the children created Australiana-themed collages and playdough, using Australian landscape and flora images.

We also enjoyed an art experience inspired by Aboriginal artwork, with the children using natural materials outdoors to explore patterns, lines and dots. These experiences supported conversations about the beauty of Australia’s natural environments, including camping, visiting the ocean, rivers and bush.

Stepping Stones Child Development Centre will be hosting a ‘Give Write Donation Drive’ over the next 6 weeks. During this time we will be collecting new and lightly used stationery to recycle, repackage and re-gift to kids in need.

By contributing to our donation drive you are helping to:
✏️Lighten the poverty load for disadvantaged families
✏️Promote recycling and sustainability
✏️Assist WA teachers
✏️Highlight the importance of philanthropy with your children.
