💛 Today is R U OK? Day - This is a reminder to check in with the people around us, and to let them know they don’t have to go through life’s ups and downs alone. Meaningful conversations are important in our daily lives as it can change lives!
Sometimes a simple conversation can make a world of difference. If someone you know isn’t okay, listening with compassion can be the first step in helping them feel supported.
Making sure we are checking in with the people we surround ourselves with, this can be difficult but creating the environment of a safe space for conversation of any kind is creating the atmosphere of others to know they aren’t alone and that we are here for them to listen and hear them in any time of need. Opening up can be a vulnerable experience this can open up a lot of emotions for a person that they have been bottling in.
Here are a few gentle ways you can reach out:
✨ Ask genuinely — A simple “How are you going, really?” can mean more than you know.
✨ Listen without judgement — Give them space to share what’s on their mind.
✨ Show you care — Sometimes just being there is enough.
✨ Encourage support — Suggest professional help if they need it, and remind them they’re not alone.
✨ Follow up — Check in again in the days and weeks ahead.
And if you’re not okay today, please know you don’t have to face it on your own. Reach out to someone you trust, whether thats a family member, a friend, partner, work colleague, a professional or contact:
