β WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? β
There seems to be confusion around the terms isolation and stay at home orders, so I thought I would try and clear this up.
π΄ So what is the difference?
ISOLATION
π You are required to isolate for 14 days if you are deemed a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Isolation means that you are to isolate in your home and not leave home for any reason other than to get medical treatment and get a COVID-19 test.
π You are not required to isolate for 14 days if you travel into a lockdown area, you are required to follow the stay at home rules for 14 days.
STAY AT HOME ORDERS
π Stay at home orders are the current restrictions that apply to areas like the Lower Hunter. These are things such as only leaving home for essential reasons, such as groceries and exercise.
π For people who live in an area not locked down that travel into a locked down area for work or other purposes, then they are required to follow these stay at home orders for 14 days upon their return. So that means following the restrictions that are applicable in the Lower Hunter areas while back home in their LGA.
π That would mean people would not be able attend pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes and shops that are open until 14 days pass from their last visit to a lockdown area. It also means you are not allowed to visit someone elseβs home, be part of a public gathering or have people come to your home.

Any sensible question, please let me know.
