We are excited to welcome a new addition to the Bayleaf Wellness team; Naturopath with a focus on chronic and complex conditions.

A little about Maila Rose...
Maila is a qualified naturopath with a special interest in chronic, complex and multi-system conditions. Her work largely centers around chronic fatigue syndrome, CIRS (biotoxin/mould illness), autoimmunity and MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome), or where multiple systems are involved and symptoms don’t fit neatly into a single diagnosis.

Her path into complex conditions is also personal. While studying naturopathy, Maila experienced and recovered from CFS, MCAS and mould-related illness herself. This experience profoundly shaped how she practices and led her to work with people navigating similar complexity where immune, neurological, reproductive, and metabolic systems often overlap.

Maila Rose also works with and has a strong interest in:
·       Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
·       Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS)
·       Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)
·       Fibromyalgia
·       Metabolic and cardiovascular health
·       Neurodevelopmental conditions
·       Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS)
·       Women’s reproductive health & fertility
·       Endometriosis/Adenomyosis
·       Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and other connective tissue disorders
·       Tick-borne illnesses & stealth infections

To deepen her understanding of human physiology, Maila continues to study biophysics at university. She is also a qualified Qigong practitioner, which informs her approach to energy, movement, nervous system regulation, and healing.

Your fish oil may be causing you more harm than good. Check this out to find out how to spot a good brand.

Not all fish oils are created equal… and some are potentially doing harm to your body.

Harsh truth: most cheap fish oils are doing far less than you think — and some may even be working against you.

Many supermarket or chemist brands are:

❌ oxidised (aka rancid before you finish the bottle)
❌ not third-party tested for heavy metals and impurities
❌ packed with fillers instead of therapeutic omega-3s

Fish oil should help reduce inflammation, support brain health, hormones, and recovery, but** only if you’re actually getting enough EPA + DHA in a stable, high-quality form.

If you need a handful of capsules daily just to reach a therapeutic dose and the brand does not third-party test… they’re your red flags 🚩

What to look for instead:
✔️ High EPA + DHA per capsule
✔️ Third-party tested purity
✔️ Practitioner brand
✔️ Dark bottle storage

We are excited to welcome a new addition to the Bayleaf Wellness team; Dr Abdul Jat…

Dr Jat has a strong interest in holistic and integrative medicine, with a particular focus on improving health literacy as a cornerstone for managing chronic and complex conditions. He is deeply committed to supporting children and families, with extensive experience in caring for neurodevelopmental and behavioural concerns such as ADHD and autism, children’s health, and psychological wellbeing.

Dr Jat also has a strong interest in mental health and provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders. He is able to prepare and coordinate Mental Health Care Plans and can also act as the ongoing mental health care provider, offering continuity of care and a personalised approach to treatment.

Dr Jat’s first preference is always evidence-based, orthodox medical treatment. However, he recognises that in some cases conventional medicine alone may not offer optimal outcomes. In such situations, he believes that a carefully considered and evidence-informed integration of complementary and holistic therapies can play a valuable role in supporting overall health and wellbeing.

Food is medicine - BUT, supplements (not pharmaceutical drugs) help bridge nutritional gaps, maintain overall health, and manage specific conditions when diet is insufficient. Common benefits include strengthening bones (calcium/Vitamin D), enhancing heart health (omega-3s), building immunity, and improving gut health. But do you know your vitamin and mineral levels? Is your gut healthy?

Test don't guess! Book a vitamin, mineral & heavy metal test. The test is immediate and is non-invasive & painless. The report shows the intra-cellular uptake of 44 vitamins, minerals and heavy metals in the body (in your tissues/cells, (i.e. the uptake in the cells vs. what is in circulation/blood). www.mybayleaf.com.au
