✨Happy New Year!✨
I hope everyone’s 2025 is off to a wonderful start.
This past couple of weeks has been a little unexpected for me- I had to reschedule some appointments after experiencing a ruptured bleeding ovarian cyst and getting some first hand experience with gynae surgery 😅 it’s been a reminder to take my own advice and REST. Something I’m not great at doing.
🙏🏻Thank you for your understanding with reschedules and the current wait list times
🎉2025 updates - new hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:30am-2:30pm. I will be expanding hour during school holiday breaks to accomodate those who find it tricky to get in.
🌟New services advertised this year are pessary fittings which are a supportive device that is great for helping manage prolapse and incontinence. Will post more on this soon.
Thank you for your ongoing support of and here’s to a happy and healthy 2025 🤩

Did you know prolapse and pelvic floor tightness can result in very similar symptoms?

Think
💭heaviness
💭difficulty emptying bladder and bowel
💭pain or discomfort
💭bladder urgency
💭bladder leakage

🏃🏻‍♀️This is why not every person who walks in the door will come out with the same program or treatment plan.

👩🏻‍⚕️Individual assessment is so important for figuring out what is driving your symptoms and getting the treatment plan right.

⏱️Next time you try to do your pelvic floor exercises really tune in and see if you can feel those muscles tightening and lifting as well as lengthening and lowering.

🧘‍♀️Another trick is connecting your pelvic floor to your breath - imagine the pelvic floor gently lifting up and in as you breath out, then when you inhale see if you can allow your rib cage and belly to expand to help relax and lengthen the pelvic floor.

😎You are not alone, 50% of women who have ever had a baby will experience prolapse at some point in their lives and us physiotherapists are super passionate about helping women to live their best lives without the prolapse ‘getting in the way’.
👩🏻‍⚕️Reach out to your local health professional whether that be a GP, Physio trained in Pelvic health or specialist if you are concerned about a possible prolapse or pelvic symptoms

It’s almost half way through 2024 🤯 so time for a little clinic update.

Mon’s next new patient appt is the 17th July which means
1️⃣ when booking an new patient pelvic floor appointment please book a follow up session 2-4 weeks after to ensure she can fit you back in for subsequent sessions to provide you with the best care possible.

2️⃣ a reminder to give as much notice as possible for reschedules or cancels so we can offer the appt to people on the waiting list if it is no longer needed.

3️⃣ we are working on getting Hicaps up and running 🥳 which means instant claims for those with physio extras cover and you only pay the gap on the day.

✔️Looking forward to the second half of this year and continuing to break the taboo on pelvic health together

✔️Conservative management of Prolapse workshop with UniSA. Was a bit nostalgic being back in Adelaide in the same class rooms I did my physio training in.
Excited to get back into the clinic and put all the new assessment skills to practice in helping women to understand and manage their prolapse so they can reach their goals 💪🏻
Stay tuned for some more prolapse education content coming soon

⭐️Mon updates and work place appreciation

📖I will be completing a certificate in conservative prolapse management at UniSA this year. I look forward to furthering my knowledge and ensuring I am providing the best up to date care for women with prolapse, this includes pessary fitting.

👩🏻‍⚕️The team at Ashton gate house has been expanding which means along with the Gynae/obstetrics/midwife there is now Tamar women’s ultrasounds and psychologist Zoe leavitt which means for patients at Ashton gate house there is the option to have multi disciplinary care and expertise all under the same roof.

📆The team meets regularly through out the year to hone in on our processes which allows us to ensure our patients are getting the best care.

🌿🚽Keeping it regular
How do your bowel habbits stack up?

✔️“Normal” frequency for bowel movements are anywhere from 3x per day to 3x per week. You shouldn’t need to strain, have pain or experience urgency or faecal incontinence.

👩🏻‍⚕️If you have any bowel changes from your normal routine, especially bleeding, you should always visit a GP to rule out anything medical.

💪🏻The pelvic floor muscles play a role in bowel movements, the ability to empty easily but also the ability to not leak or make it to a toilet in time.

💦If you are constipated this can have a huge affect on bladder symptoms so your pelvic floor physio will always be interested in your bowel habbits.
