THE GROUNDING TECHNIQUE

Today’s visual shares one of the simplest, most effective tools for helping a child come back into their body when anxiety, overwhelm or dysregulation takes over.

Grounding works because it brings the brain out of “threat mode” and back into the present moment — a key part of brain-based parenting and co-regulation.

Young people often tell us that having something practical to do in the moment makes big feelings feel less scary and more manageable.

You can use this strategy at home, in school, during transitions, or any time a child feels “stuck” in their emotions.

💙 Happy World Bipolar Day! 💙

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and community of everyone living with bipolar disorder, and the friends, families, and supporters who walk alongside them.

A quick update on tonight's event: unfortunately, due to unforeseen delays, we won't be able to screen the documentary as planned. We're really sorry for the disappointment, and we appreciate your understanding.

The good news? Our panel discussion is still going ahead and we can't wait. 🎙️

There's still time to register for tonight's webinar - come join the conversation, ask your questions, and be part of this important community moment.

Meet Karen Rea – Director & Co-Founder

👋 Hi, I’m Karen (She/Her)
📍 Role: Director & Co-Founder
⏳ With the team since: the beginning, when Sarah and I founded the business in January 2021.

💬 Favourite part of my role: No two days are ever the same! I love matching the right worker with the right participant and supporting our team to feel confident, valued and empowered. Seeing participants thrive and staff grow in their roles is incredibly rewarding.

💙 Supporting participants means: It’s a privilege to be invited into someone’s world. Supporting participants means helping them work toward meaningful, fulfilling lives while walking alongside both them and their families with guidance, advocacy, and encouragement. Being part of their journey and seeing the difference we can make is why I do what I do.

✨ Fun fact: Outside Careworks, I’m the Deputy Unit Commander of the Casino SES. I love hands-on operational work, mentoring members, and being part of the “orange family.” I also draw on my personal experience supporting my mother, which has given me a deep understanding of the importance of consistent, compassionate support.
