Speech Pathology Week 2025 💬

It’s been a while since our last post but what a great time with it being Speech Pathology Week this week! Celebrating the incredible role speech pathologists play in helping people thrive at every stage of their lives.

This week also marks my last week of work before maternity leave starts. The last few weeks have been full of mixed emotions (celebrating progress and saying some “goodbye for now’s”). I look forward to checking in again in the new year with our new little addition to the Little Chirps family 🩵

Some great tips here for supporting little ones with ADHD. These tips are also great for kids who are developing their receptive language skills (understanding of language).

While this stage definitely has its challenges, children will typically start to go through a period of rapid language development around this age. This can mean less frustration at not being able to express themselves (although you may also get told by your toddler that you’re doing everything wrong 😅). You should also see an increase in their ability to follow instructions and answer questions.

Such a great morning spent with ADHD Done Differently and other local allied health professionals in the Maitland region. Can’t wait to try some of the tips in future sessions!

Today we (Linda & Jo) got to run a 4-hour training for allied health professionals in the Maitland Region.

We learned about the ADHD neurotype, neurodiversity-affirming strategies for sessions, the positive impact we can have as health professionals for our ADHDers while having lots of fun along the way...

(AND... I had the most delicious vegan cherry slice that was not only delicious but beautiful so it made it into the photos!)

Thank you to Sarah from Foundation First Speech Pathology for organising the day for an incredible group of allied health professionals! We got to meet incredible people from Hop Along Kids Occupational Therapy, Kids Physio Newcastle, Little Chirps Speech Pathology and more!
