We continue our journey through the Koshas this week with the Pranamaya Kosha - the energetic sheath.

In yoga, prana is our life force energy. It is carried through the breath, through movement, through the spaces we inhabit and the way we meet life itself.

When prana flows well, we often feel clear, grounded and connected.
When it becomes stagnant or depleted, we can feel restless, fatigued or disconnected from ourselves.

On that note...

You may have noticed our class bookings have been a little fuller lately. We are deeply aware of this, and while we continue searching for a more spacious, permanent home for Yoga Brave, we are trusting the process of finding a space that feels truly aligned for this community.

For now, we keep practicing in the in-between.
Breathing together.
Making space where we can.
Trusting that what is meant for us is unfolding in its own time.

This week’s classes will explore the Pranamaya Kosha through Pranayama, Asana, Meditation in awareness of the subtle body.

MEDITATION

In practice, we begin to notice that not all thoughts carry the same quality.

In yogic philosophy, the mind is described as citta, and its movements or disturbances are called vrittis - the fluctuations of the mind.

Patañjali reminds us: “yogaś citta vṛtti nirodhaḥ” -
yoga is the softening, or settling, of these fluctuations.

Not by force.
But through awareness.

Some vrittis arise from fear and projection - the mind moving into imagined futures, amplifying uncertainty, creating contraction in the body. These can pull us away from presence, often leaving us feeling overwhelmed, stuck or anxious.

Others arise with more clarity and steadiness.
They are grounded in what is here, now - and gently guide us toward what is supportive, practical, and aligned. These are shaped by buddhi, our inner discernment.

Meditation is not about removing thoughts,
but about learning to recognise their nature.

To pause.
To notice: Does this thought contract me, or support me?

And over time, to place less attention on what agitates the mind…
and more on what leads us toward steadiness, clarity, and right action.

This is the practice.

This morning looked nothing like the version of me I like to believe I am.

I was sitting at my desk, halfway through paying my teachers…
with folded washing on my lap - an awkward reminder I’d already started something else and not finished it.

And truthfully, that wasn’t the only thing.

My mind felt scattered.
My energy pulled in too many directions.

Why?

Because I didn’t begin my day the way I know supports me.

A friend called early - a dear friend I haven’t seen in ages.
We were both free… so I jumped at the chance. And I loved every minute.
But it tipped the morning off course.

No meditation.
No pranayama on the grass.
No warm water.
No abhyanga.

Just a jolt of coffee… and into the day.

This is the part we don’t often speak about.

When the rhythm is lost before it begins.

And how much those simple rituals matter - not as something to get right, but as anchors.

So today isn’t about catching up.

Just noticing…
and gently returning.

Because this is the practice too.

Join me for Meditation - a returning home. Details in the bio 🙌

There is a quiet returning that lives beneath the idea of alignment.

Not perfection - but a soft coming back into relationship with yourself.

This week, we explore alignment across the layers of your being - physical, mental, and something more subtle.

On the mat, it may begin with the body:
feet grounded, spine lengthened, breath steady.

But as Patanjali reminds us through the Yoga Sutras, “prayatna śaithilya ananta samāpatti” - the easing of effort, the softening into something vast.

Alignment, then, is not something we force.
It is something we allow.

A gentle coordination of breath and movement,
attention and sensation,
intention and action.

Off the mat, this becomes a quiet inquiry:

Where am I pushing?
Where can I soften?
What shifts when I let go, even slightly?

Alignment is responsive.
It listens.
It refines through awareness, not effort.

This week, let it be simple -
less about getting it right,
more about noticing what feels true.

And allowing that to be enough.

With you in practice.

Saturday 25th April 2026 - ANZAC DAY

On a morning where the world pauses in remembrance, our Saturday practice will still unfold.

This week falls on Anzac Day - a day held in quiet honour for those who have served, and those who continue to carry the echo of that service through generations.

We will gather as we always do, not in disregard of this day, but in deep respect for it.

The practice will be held with steadiness and reverence - an offering of stillness, grounding, and gratitude. A way of remembering not only through words, but through presence.

If you feel called to join, come as you are.
Let the mat meet you where you are at.
Let remembrance move through breath.

Oh the quiet honesty that arises when someone says,

“I just can’t seem to stay consistent with meditation.”

And I find myself gently nodding… because this is where so many people begin.

Not in discipline.
Not in perfection.
But in the space between intention and reality.

This is why I’ve created something new.

A 2-week immersion - Coming Home to Meditation
A space to understand the resistance, not fight it.
To learn why the mind does what it does.
To build a practice that feels like it belongs in your life, not something extra you need to be better at.

We’ll meet across four evenings (Tuesdays & Thursdays), allowing a rhythm to form… one that supports you before momentum fades.

And we’ll gather in a place that holds deep meaning for me - Organic Feast.
A space that has quietly witnessed my own journey unfold. My spiritual home, in many ways.

There are just 12 places for this first round, to keep the space intimate and supported.

We begin May 5.

If you’ve been circling meditation… starting and stopping… wondering why it feels harder than it should…

This may be your moment to come home to it.

Message me or follow the event link to join us.

There is something beautiful about community - how it grows, evolves, and welcomes new hands to help hold the space.

With a full heart, I’d love to introduce Janis to our Yoga Brave team.

Many of you had the joy of practising with Janis last week, and the feedback was so warm and wholehearted. It confirmed what I already felt; that she carries a natural gift for guiding others home to themselves.

Teaching yoga is Janis’s happy place. She weaves a playful spirit into her classes while gently inviting the deeper connection between breath, body, and mind. Her way of teaching encourages curiosity, self-discovery, and the freedom to meet yourself exactly where you are.

I am so confident in handing our Friday morning classes into Janis’s care, knowing you will be beautifully supported in her presence.

And this is only the beginning - Janis is also dreaming into workshops and special offerings that will bring even more joy, exploration, and playfulness into our space.

Please join me in giving Janis a warm Yoga Brave welcome. We are so lucky to have her with us. ✨

G R O W T H

I’ll be welcoming a couple of new teachers into the weekly class schedule, allowing the rhythm of classes to be shared and supported more widely.

This is not a step away from teaching - it is a step into a more sustainable and spacious way of holding it.

And it also reflects something deeper I have always hoped for Yoga Brave - that it continues to evolve not only as a space that supports teachers, but as a living, breathing offering that gives students access to a broad and diverse palette of what yoga has to offer.

✨Different voices.
✨Different lineages of experience.
✨Different ways of meeting the same essential truth.

Expansion through depth, not scale.

Thank you for entering the door, and meeting me here.

Fy 🙌
