As the end of the year approaches, we can take the opportunity to reflect on what we have built in 2018 and what we plan to create in 2019.

Earlier this week, Agnes Health was reminded again of the businesses that surround us who want to give back. Monkey Wrench Studios are our first choice for printing and design collaboration. They were called upon by a flexible learning centre for kids that struggle to fit in to our mainstream school system. Low in funds, they needed to transform a students storybook into a printed copy. This had to be ready for a charity art show only a few days away. A quote was requested and the response from Col at Monkey Wrench studios came as; "sixteen copies are on their way, free of charge."

Kindness cannot be understated.

Agnes Health community member, SiSU Wellness, has been awarded Fitness & Wellbeing Business of the Year at the industry-leading Optus My Business Awards. The award has cemented the company’s reputation as one of Australia’s top health tech organisations.

It follows a successful year which saw the company experience rapid growth, with its flagship product, the SiSU Health Station, now available across 370 sites in Australia and the UK.

Since it was founded in 2013, SiSU Wellness has played an instrumental role in supporting Australians to transform their health and fitness through its expansive partnership with Priceline. Their SiSU Health Stations are available in 230 Priceline Pharmacies across Australia.

Impact investors align their investing in companies and organisations who are socially mindful. Investors who are led by innovative and effective approaches to social issues has resulted in grant opportunities for eligible companies.

Agnes Health resident Lumin has developed a socially minded product which addresses loneliness and isolation in our vulnerable community members. Lumin was eligible, and received, a Growth Grant provided by Impact Investment Ready. The grant enabled Lumin to ramp up their pitch deck to secure investment. Lumin is identified as being socially minded, and has widened their access to raising capital for their go-to-market strategy.

Agnes Health Community Member, My Safety Buddy, has embarked on a second phase of business development which sees the My Safety Buddy value proposition mature beyond product development to enhanced support.

My Safety Buddy CEO Travis Holland says, “A deeper understanding of our clients’ needs brought us to the conclusion that successful implementation of My Safety Buddy required us to provide product and support bundles that were more easily understood by our clients”.

When to re-platform?

To continuously add product value for clients, the ability to evolve with technology and client demands is paramount. A difficult question to answer is, when to re-platform.

Agnes Health alumni Care Collaborator has developed an on-boarding software targeted at Home Care Providers. The on-boarding software was developed in 2014 in line with the introduction of consumer directed care. Fast forward to the home care market in 2018, Care Collaborator is looking ahead and understands it is time to re-platform.

Agnes Health would like to congratulate the recipients of LaunchVic's Round 8 Health Funding for healthtech startups.

The Victorian Government is rolling out funding to support startup's in the health and life sciences sector to stabilise Melbourne as the Healthtech hub for the Asia Pacific region.

The funding will enable the successful recipients to deliver accelerator and education programs throughout Victoria, and thrive in the global market place.

Special commendations for Agnes community member and successful Round 8 recipient, VHNx. VHNx is set to run Melbourne Health Accelerator in 2019 and Bendigo Health Accelerator in 2020.

Geneseq's new partnership with Clinical Labs achieves an important milestone for Geneseq, a wholly owned Australian company. With the backing of Australia’s largest privately-held pathology company, Geneseq can accelerate additional testing and validation work at the scale required to bring Melaseq to the market .

Agnes Health community member, Geneseq announced a new partnership with Australian Clinical Labs.

The partnership will bring the first non-invasive melanoma test to market under the trade mark Melaseq™. Melaseq will offer over two million Australians at high-risk of developing melanoma access to a simple blood test to detect melanoma signatures in their blood.
