I enjoyed our panel discussion at today with Chantelle Otten, Director AISSM (Australian Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine), James Sneddon, CEO Hyphen Health and Rashidur Rahman, Digital Health Technology Manager, Melbourne Sexual Health Centre, Alfred Health.

The traditional view is that sexual wellness is sexual health, the absence of STDs but it also includes sexual function and pleasure which affects self esteem, confidence, self-attractiveness and feelings of competence. It includes being empowered to make choices through sexual and reproductive health literacy.

Conca’s fertility doctor and Melbourne IVF’s medical director Dr Fleur Cattrall said in men with severe infertility like Conca, Micro-TESE had just a 60 per cent chance of finding s***m.

“In Reece’s case, there was a chance we wouldn’t find s***m at all,” Cattrall said.

“For couples with infertility, we know that the stress that they feel with the diagnosis can be as severe as being diagnosed with cancer.

“And so anything that we can do in terms of medicine and the technology to speed up the time to pregnancy reduces the emotional burden.”

Using AI knowledge in the procedure brings exciting possibilities, she said.

Melbourne IVF fertility specialist, Dr Fleur Cattrall, has both Chinese and non-Chinese patients who have told her the Year of the Dragon was a lucky one.
🐲
“Everyone knows the Year of the Dragon,” she says. “When people are struggling to fall pregnant they often look for signs of good fortune and hope.”

A message from my pregnant patient,
IVF is not easy, so I’m sharing my story to encourage other mums to keep going and don’t give up.

If you really want a baby, when the luck comes, and you use the wisdom from your doctor, that’s when you have hope of having a baby.

I spent many days and nights being sad, but my message is, don’t give up, if you really want to be a mum trust the advanced technology.

My parents in China encouraged me to get IVF in Australia – more advanced treatment here.
🙏

In MJA insights discussing PCOS. It is important to optimise the pre-conception health of women, as women with PCOS are more likely to have a higher risk of pregnancy complications.

If a patient is planning a pregnancy, it is essential to optimise their pre-conception health, as people with PCOS are recognised to be at higher risk of pregnancy complications. It is recommended that patients with PCOS have an oral glucose tolerance test before trying to conceive

Melbourne IVF is excited to study personalised fertility medicine aiming to tailor treatments based on a persons individual genetic makeup.

We all have different genes and this study takes a “one size fits all” approach to diagnostics and drug therapy and turns it into an individualized approach.

The 3 million dollar grant received by Virtus Health clinics and its collaborators will be used to investigate an individual’s genetic profile using the power of AI to develop decision tools that guide doctors to select the best medication type and dose for the patient. 😍

On channel 7 tonight discussing Melbourne IVF egg freezing results.

Our analysis of the outcomes of 30,000 eggs frozen over a 10 year period indicates that frozen eggs are performing equally as well as fresh eggs.

At Melbourne IVF frozen eggs have the same fertilisation, embryo development and live birth rates as fresh eggs.

7 eggs frozen at less than 35 years of age have a 50% chance of a live birth. This analysis was presented at the American Society of Reproductive Medicine this week and is reassuring for people who choose to preserve the possibility of having children in the future.

Frozen egg babies, thankyou to my patent and beautiful 6 month old Tahnee, who are in The Australian today discussing Melbourne IVF egg freezing

The survival and fertility rates of a woman’s eggs that have been fro- zen are almost as high as those for fresh eggs, a new study has shown.
A longitudinal study by Mel- bourne IVF of more than 30,000 eggs across 3280 elective egg cycles from January 2013 to De- cember 2022 recorded a 92 per cent survival rate and 65 per cent fertilisation rate across the frozen eggs. This is in line with the ferti- lisation and embryo development of fresh eggs.
Selina Rutko, 42, is a primary school teacher and a single parent who conceived her child, Tahnee, using IVF. Tahnee is now six months old and Ms Rutko has been a proponent of egg freezing services since.
“I didn’t want to miss the op- portunity to become a mother,”
Ms Rutko explained. “It took a bit of courage to do it, because you’ve got to get your mindset right.”
Ms Rutko first froze her eggs at age 36 and said it allowed her to decide when she was ready to be a parent.
“I really wasn't ready before. Then it was just a feeling that this was the right time for me. I think everybody has to get to that moment,” she said.
