Wondering when to take the next step?
Here are some signs it might be time to see a fertility specialist:

• You’ve been trying to conceive for over 12 months (or 6 months if you’re over 35)
• Your periods are irregular or have stopped altogether
• You’ve had two or more miscarriages
• You’re considering delaying parenthood and want to understand your options
• You’ve been diagnosed with a condition like PCOS or endometriosis
• You simply want clarity and a personalised plan

Egg freezing can offer flexibility and peace of mind when planning for the future. The ideal time is typically in your late 20s to early 30s, when egg quality is at its peak. The process takes around two weeks from start to finish. While it’s not a guarantee, it can be a valuable option for preserving fertility.

Fertility is a journey. If you’d like to explore your options, appointments are available now .

But for some, it begins long before the first heartbeat.

It starts with courage with months or years of trying,
with early mornings at the clinic,
with heartbreak and hope in equal measure.

IVF babies are born not just from science,
but from strength, faith, and a deep, unwavering love.

To the ones still on the journey:

It’s one of the most common questions I hear and one of the most frustrating comments patients receives

“Maybe you just need to relax.”

Let’s clear this up.

Stress does not cause infertility.
But infertility absolutely causes stress.

Chronic, unrelenting stress can affect sleep, hormones, appetite, and even ovulation in some cases—but it’s not the root cause of most fertility issues. Many people under stress fall pregnant easily. Others who feel calm still struggle.

Here’s what we know:
• Stress is a normal response to a painful experience
• Feeling stressed does not mean you’re doing something wrong
• You can take care of your mental health and still need medical support
• Mind-body support (like therapy, mindfulness or exercise) can improve how you cope and that matters

So no, stress didn’t break your body. And being calm won’t be the magic fix. But taking care of your emotional wellbeing is still a powerful part of the journey.

Your AMH is not your destiny.

Let’s talk facts — not fear.

Because one number should never define your future

Low AMH? Don’t panic.

It doesn’t mean you’re infertile.

It doesn’t mean IVF is your only option.

And it definitely doesn’t mean it’s too late.

AMH is just one piece of your fertility puzzle.

It doesn’t predict egg quality, natural conception, or when menopause will hit.

But…

It can help you make smart choices about timing, treatment, and egg freezing — if interpreted correctly.

The Room That Raised Me

Twelve years.
Thousands of stories.
One room that raised me.

For more than a decade, I sat in that same consulting room at Epworth.
It’s where I found my feet in private practice.
It’s where I followed in the footsteps of one of IVF’s pioneers, who gave me a piece of advice I still carry in my soul:

“Listen. And learn from your patients.”

And I did.
Not just from journals or lectures—but from you.
You were my greatest teachers.

You came in with aching hearts and whispered hopes.
You shared your fears, your pain, your longing.
And together, we held our breath, rode the waves of blood tests and scans, cried after heartbreaks, and celebrated like family when that longed-for flicker of a heartbeat appeared.

You didn’t just trust me with your care—you shaped me into the doctor I’ve become.

That room saw it all.
The courage. The quiet resilience. The wild joy.
And the babies who beat the odds.

Saying goodbye was harder than I imagined.

But I carry every single story with me—etched into who I am.
Because in that room, I didn’t just practice medicine.
I became someone’s hope.

Fertility After 35: What You Should Know

If you're thinking about starting or growing your family after 35, you're not alone — and you're not out of time. But having realistic expectations is key.

Here’s what you need to know:

Timeline Tip: Fertility does decline gradually after 35, and more sharply after 40. That doesn’t mean you can’t conceive — but it may take longer, and you may need extra support.

Plan Proactively: If you’ve been trying to conceive for 6 months or more without success, it’s a good time to consult a fertility specialist (rather than waiting the usual 12 months recommended for younger women).

Dr. Kokum’s Tip:
Start with a simple fertility check-up — knowledge is power. Understanding your ovarian reserve, cycle health, and partner’s fertility status can help you make informed, timely decisions.

And don’t forget to consider your bigger family goals — how many children you hope to have, and when. If you're starting later, fertility preservation (such as egg or embryo freezing) can help keep that dream a reality.

Your journey is unique, and there are options — from natural conception to assisted reproduction. You don’t have to navigate this alone.

He was once a frozen embryo… and now he’s flying across a cross-country field.
Fourteen years old. Strong, fast, full of life.

When I look at him, I remember the fear and longing.
I worried - about IVF, ICSI, frozen embryos.
When he walked late or had severe allergies, I questioned the science that made him possible.

Because that’s what we do as parents, especially after infertility.
We carry dreams, hopes… and fears.

But then they surprise us.

This little frozen blastocyst now runs like the wind.
He is kind, emotionally wise, and full of heart.
He teaches me what true resilience looks like.

I’d go through it all again without blinking.
Because he is worth it. Every bit of it.

To anyone worried about IVF outcomes-
Most fears never come true.
And some miracles are greater than you ever imagined.

Every embryo is a possibility. Every possibility, a miracle.

IVF is not the first step

When you're trying to conceive and it’s taking longer than expected, it’s natural to think IVF is the next move. But the truth is, IVF is often not the first step in fertility treatment.

At your first consultation, we’ll take the time to understand your unique situation with:

A detailed medical history

Cycle tracking and hormone testing

An assessment of ovulation, egg quality and s***m health

Imaging (like ultrasound) to check the uterus and fallopian tubes

From there, we may explore:

Lifestyle changes

Ovulation induction (tablets or injections)

Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

And then, if appropriate — IVF

Every couple or individual is different, and the best treatment is the one that’s right for you — not necessarily the most complex.

You’re not alone in this. We’re here to guide you, every step of the way.

Let’s Talk About S***m - The Male Factor
From Dr. Kokum

When couples are trying to conceive, the focus often falls heavily on the woman’s body—but here’s the truth:

Male factor infertility plays a role in up to 30–50% of cases.
And it’s nothing to be ashamed of.

S***m health matters.
We need enough s***m, moving well, shaped well, and with strong DNA.

It’s half the story of conception—and it deserves just as much attention and care.

So how do we check s***m health?
A semen analysis is simple, non-invasive, and gives us valuable insights about:
• S***m count
• Motility (how they move)
• Morphology (their shape)
• Volume and other key markers

Gentle reminder: fertility is not a measure of masculinity.
Getting checked isn’t just responsible—it’s empowering. It shows care, commitment, and teamwork.

The good news? There’s so much we can do to improve s***m health—through lifestyle changes, supplements, and tailored support.
If you’re on this journey, don’t overlook the male factor.
Let’s talk about it—with openness, without shame, and with the care it deserves.
With you every step,
Dr. Kokum

Gratitude

Every so often, I receive a message, a photo, or a small token of appreciation—sometimes months, sometimes years after a baby is born. It might be a drawing from a toddler, a school photo, or even a bunch of flowers—each one a gentle reminder of the lives I’ve been lucky enough to be part of.

These moments mean so much.

They remind me that this isn’t just a medical journey—it’s a shared one.

I don’t just help people have babies. I get to witness their milestones, watch families grow, and feel like a small part of their story, long after the treatment ends.

To all the parents who’ve stayed in touch—thank you.

Your updates brighten my day and remind me why I do this work.
It’s easy to rush through life without stopping to reflect, but today I’m taking a quiet moment to acknowledge how fortunate I am.
I hope you can find a moment to do the same.

With care,
Dr. Kokum
