Knee arthritis doesn’t always start at the knee.

Excessive foot pronation (where the ankle rolls inward) can increase pressure through the inside of the knee. Over time, this affects alignment through the hip and contributes to joint stress and cartilage wear.

We work closely with physios and orthopaedic specialists to treat knee pain at the source with a whole lower limb approach.

This may include:
• Strength and conditioning to improve ankle stability
• Footwear assessment
• Prescription of custom orthotics to support alignment and reduce joint loading

Research shows that foot orthoses can help redistribute forces through the ankle and knee, reducing stress on the medial knee and assisting in the management of osteoarthritis.

You might be surprised how often we see kids wearing the wrong shoe size… One thing that has really stood out to us over the years as a podiatrist is how common poor shoe fit actually is. Many people are simply buying the wrong size or style for their foot without realising it.

So we’ve compiled a few simple tips to keep in mind when choosing your child’s next pair of school shoes. And a little tip, these apply to adults too, so keep them in mind for yourself as well!

A little update from Amy ✨
We wanted to let you know from this month we’re no longer accepting new patients. We are so appreciative of the incredible support from our local community and truly love seeing our patients each day.

There are only so many hours in the day, and we want to make sure the people we are caring for continue to receive the time and attention they deserve, as well as looking after Amy’s health and wellbeing running a business as a one woman show 💃

Thank you to the Campaspe community for the amazing support of the clinic over the past few years. It genuinely means a lot, and we’re very grateful for the trust you place in us with your care.
Big thanks 💛

How long have you had your runners? Most running shoes last around 12 months. After that, the foam starts to break down and stops absorbing shock properly, even if the shoe still looks fine on the outside.

When the support goes, your body cops more load. That can lead to sore heels, shin splints, knee pain, or injuries that creep up over time.

We recently spoke to someone who realised their trusty runners were 9 years old 🤯😬 Impressive durability back in the day, but shoes just aren’t built like that anymore.

If it’s been a while, it might be time for a fresh pair. Your feet and joints will thank you.

Feeling tight through your calves before the season’s even started? Pre-season training can take a real toll especially on your lower legs. Your calf muscles power your jump, sprint, and quick direction changes. When they’re overloaded you’re more at risk of early season injuries like hamstring strains and calf tears.

If stretching and foam rolling aren’t cutting it, dry needling and deep tissue massage can help release tension and speed up recovery. Amy offers dry needling here at the clinic to help you move better, feel looser, and stay on the field.

You might have seen a new face at reception over summer 🌼 Sophie is a first year podiatry student at Charles Sturt University and helping us out at Echuca Foot and Ankle Clinic during her break. She is also a local Echuca girl which we love to see! She’s learning from the team behind the scenes while she welcomes our patients at the front desk.

We’re proud to play a small part in mentoring the next generation of podiatrists 👣👩‍🎓

Happy 3rd business birthday to us! 🎉

It’s hard to believe it’s already been three years 😱 The time has flown and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who has supported the clinic along the way. A big thank you to our patients, referrers, and local health crew for trusting us with your care (and your feet). We love being part of the Campaspe community and can’t wait for another year of helping you move comfortably and confidently 🦶💙

To celebrate Amy’s enjoying an extra special and well earned break – a little rest (and a bit of sightseeing!) before another big year ahead. She’ll be back in the clinic from early Feb 💛

We often see heel pain from Severs in kids and adults who play high-impact sports like basketball, cricket or footy, especially at rep level.

If you’ve tried physio, stretching or rest and the pain keeps coming back, your feet might need more support. We work closely with other health professionals for a holistic approach to your recovery.

Custom orthotics can cushion the heel, support the arch and help reduce strain. Whether you're 12 or 30, we can help you stay in the game. Talk to us or your chosen allied health professional about whether orthotics could be the missing link to your recovery.

Do you have an active child who comes home with sore heels after sport or school?

We’re seeing lots of kids aged 8 - 14 at the clinic with heel pain caused by Severs. Severs happens when bones grow faster than muscles, which puts stress on the heel. It’s especially common in sporty kids during growth spurts.

These blue orthotics have extra cushioning in the heel to absorb shock, reduce pain and support the foot. That support helps physios and other therapists do their best work too.

If your child is in pain, we can help. Let’s get them back to doing what they love.

We were proud to sponsor the Sweat vs Steam event and even prouder that the winner of our ticket giveaway, Molly, also took out twelfth place in her age category for the 10km race! 🏆👏

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our stall. We had a great day supporting runners, past and present, with plenty of pre- and post-race taping!

Well done to all involved in another fantastic community event 💙
