August 4 is National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Children's Day!

The 2025 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day theme Little Footsteps, Big Future honours the journeys our children take as they grow—each step guided by culture, community and connection to Country.

It’s an opportunity for all Australians to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and learn about the impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child.

Berrimba recently had the pleasure of meeting a lovely gentleman named Geoff Torpey. At 91 years young, Geoff has a passion for crafting puzzles and sharing joy with others.

Geoff, along with his carer Leanne, visited us after seeing our recent Facebook post requesting donations. He kindly brought in a bag of five beautiful cultural puzzles he had handmade for the children. His generosity and thoughtfulness were truly heartwarming.

Geoff also shared that he’s been busy creating some noughts and crosses puzzles, which he plans to bring in on his next visit. We are so grateful for his kindness and look forward to welcoming him back soon!
