This evening, an editorial about the conduct of an unqualified Massage Therapist operating in a shopping mall in Queensland was aired on The Project. The masseur in question did not fully understand or speak English and, as the story states, has offended several times and has been charged and sentenced. We are a little disappointed that there wasn't a clear distinction between these types of massage establishments and our clinics.

It's not possible to regulate the term "massage" but the terms Remedial, Clinical and Myotherapy are exclusively reserved for therapists who complete the appropriate qualifications and are members of accredited associations, which require police checks, insurance and abide by a code of conduct/ethics.

I've been telling people for years, to NOT patronize those "drop in" massage shops in the Shopping malls or shopping strips, eventhough they are convenient. We deliberately chose our location to be as far away as possible from those other massage shops in the shopping strip and we wanted to make a relaxed homely atmosphere.

In order to be treated by a fully qualified Remedial Massage Therapist you need to make an appointment, but it's worth the wait.
