Welcome to Safe House Psychology 🤍

If you’re a parent in Edmondson Park or the surrounding community, this space was created with you in mind.

We know that supporting children through big emotions, anxiety, and behaviour challenges can feel overwhelming at times — and often, parents are left feeling unsure where to start.

Our goal is to provide a space where children feel safe, understood, and genuinely engaged in the process, and where parents feel supported too.

You don’t have to figure it out on your own.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week 🌈

We’ve been taught to measure people against a narrow definition of “normal.”

Neurodiversity invites us to question that.

Brains think, learn, and process the world in different ways — and those differences aren’t something to “fix.”

At Safe House Psychology, we understand that different brains need different approaches.

We don’t expect clients to fit the therapy — we adapt therapy to fit the individual.

Because feeling understood is where meaningful support begins.

Happy International Women’s Day 🌸✨

International Women’s Day is a moment to recognise and celebrate the contributions of women everywhere — in our homes, our workplaces, our communities and in the countless roles women carry every day.

It’s about acknowledging the strength, resilience, care and leadership women bring to the world, whether that’s through their work, raising families, supporting others, building businesses, or simply showing up for the people around them.

At Safe House Psychology, I’m incredibly proud of the women who make up our team. Each of them brings compassion, insight and dedication to the work they do, supporting people through some of life’s most vulnerable and meaningful moments.

The care they show, the knowledge they share and the support they provide makes a real difference in the lives of the people we work with and in our wider community.

Today is a reminder to celebrate the women around us — the ones who guide us, support us, inspire us and walk alongside us in life.

To the incredible women on our team, and to the women in all of our lives, thank you for everything you do 🤍

For many children, difficult drop-offs or school refusal aren’t about being “naughty” or oppositional.

Sometimes, they’re signs of separation anxiety.

Separation anxiety can show up as:

• crying or clinging at drop-off
• refusing to go to school or preschool
• panic or distress before Mondays
• headaches or tummy aches in the morning
• trouble sleeping or frequent nightmares
• needing constant reassurance that you’ll come back

For children, being apart from a parent or caregiver can feel genuinely overwhelming — even when they are safe.

The good news is: anxiety is treatable, and with the right support, children can learn coping strategies, build confidence, and feel more secure during separations.

If this sounds familiar, you don’t have to manage it alone.

Our team at Safe House Psychology supports children and families with anxiety, emotional regulation, and school-related stress.
