Enjoy the public holiday today, because February kicks off properly next week.

We are back at Park Holme Library on the first Saturday of the month for our regular Board Games session.

It’s a low-pressure environment, fully supported by our staff, and a good way to get out of the house without the stress of a "loud" social event.

Logistics:

Transport: We can arrange pick-up and drop-off if needed.

We bring a massive stack of games but feel free to bring your own if you want to teach the group something new.

Meet Marcus.

Marcus is the Director and Senior Therapist here.

Sometimes "Director" sounds a bit distant, but Marcus is very much hands-on. His background is in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

In simple terms, that means he doesn't believe in just sitting around talking about problems. He focuses on helping people figure out what they actually value, and then taking action to get there.

He’s passionate about neuro-affirming practice and has spent years advocating for people on the Autism Spectrum and with ADHD.

He sets the tone for the whole team: we care, we commit, and we challenge you to move forward.

We believe in the power of a good conversation. It’s why our social groups and community catch-ups are so important to us.

But for those looking for deeper change, we offer more than just a chat.

At Counselling&, our 1:1 sessions are built on evidence-based frameworks like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This means we aren't just here to listen; we’re here to help you identify your core values and build the psychological tools to move toward them.

We meet you in the community, at home or in a quiet local spot, to ensure therapy happens where you feel most comfortable.

We currently have capacity for new 1:1 counselling referrals.

Meet Laura. 👋

Laura is one of our Counsellors and Support Workers.

She has a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy and specializes in trauma-informed practice. But what you really need to know is that she is a massive fan of fantasy novels and video games (ask her about Dragon Age).

We’re posting this today because our first Dungeons & Dragons group kicks off this Saturday.

People sometimes ask why we run "gaming" groups. It’s because staff like Laura know that stories, games, and imagination are actually powerful tools for connection. They aren't just "hobbies"—they are how a lot of us process the world.

Laura is also a huge animal lover and has a rescue dog named Bowie.

If you see her around, say hi. (Especially if you want to talk about books).

We have the gear. We just need the adventurers. ⚔️

Our first Dungeons & Dragons group for 2026 kicks off this Saturday.

If you’ve been thinking about joining but haven't sent that email yet—this is your sign.

You don’t need to know the rules, and you definitely don’t need to bring your own armour (we have that covered). You just need to be willing to join a team and see where the story goes.

The Details: Saturday, Jan 17th 📍 Park Holme Library ✅ NDIS Funded

We have a couple of seats left at the table. To grab one, email Mark: hello@counsellingand.com.au

If you’ve been emailing us about the Board Games or D&D groups, this is the face on the other end of the inbox. 👋

Meet Mark.

Mark is a Therapeutic Assistant here at Counselling&.

He actually started his career studying Mechanical Engineering, before realizing halfway through that he was more interested in how people work than how machines work.

He made the switch to Psychology and hasn't looked back.

We love having him on the team because he brings a very calm, practical energy to the room. If you’re coming to the Board Games afternoon this Saturday, Mark will be the one hosting it.

(He’s also a big fan of hiking and gardening, so if you need an icebreaker when you meet him, ask him what he’s growing at the mom

Who’s up for a game on the 17th?

We are kicking off 2026 with a Dungeons & Dragons group.

If you’ve never played, think of it like a team sport, but without the running.

One minute you might be sneaking past a sleeping dragon, the next you're trying to talk your way out of a goblin jail. You work together to solve problems, find treasure, and keep the story moving.

There’s no pressure to be "good" at it. It’s just a way to hang out, use your imagination, and have a laugh with a supportive group.

Details: 🗓 Saturday, Jan 17th 📍 Park Holme Library ✅ NDIS Funded + Transport included

Spaces are limited for our party of adventurers, so email us if you want to grab a spot: hello@counsellingand.com.au

Who’s up for the first game of 2026? 🎲

We’re kicking off the new year with a Board Games afternoon this Saturday, Jan 3rd.

We know the holidays can be a bit full-on, so we wanted to create a relaxed space to just hang out, play some games, and grab lunch (we’re putting on a sausage sizzle).

We have a private room at Park Holme Library and a stack of games ready to go (though you’re welcome to bring your favourites, too).

The Details: 🗓 Saturday, Jan 3rd ⏰ 11am – 3pm 📍 Park Holme Library 🚙 Transport available if you need it. ✅ Participation is NDIS funded.

RSVP is essential for catering: 📧 hello@counsellingand.com.au ❓ Questions? Email Mark at mark@counsellingand.com.au

We’re starting 2026 with a new way to support you.

We are introducing Psychosocial Recovery Coaching to Counselling&, with immediate availability.

For us, this feels like a natural evolution. We have always used a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approach, so adding dedicated coaching to help build resilience and life skills just makes sense. It’s about practical, individualised support to help you reach your personal goals.

If you or someone you know needs that extra layer of support this year, we’re ready to help.

To chat about it: 📧 hello@counsellingand.com.au
