We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of our Toowong team, Ella Gilmour!

Ella is a warm, person-centred psychologist who is passionate about supporting and empowering individuals across all stages of life. She takes a relaxed, collaborative, trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach, valuing the input of clients as the experts in their own experiences and striving to meet people where they are at with curiosity, respect, and genuineness. Her hope is that clients leave sessions feeling valued, understood, and equipped with the insight and practical skills to navigate life in ways that feel meaningful to them.

Ella draws from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Schema-informed Therapy to tailor support to each individual’s needs and goals.

Ella particularly enjoys working with autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent adolescents and adults, and aims to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can show up as their authentic selves. Other areas of treatment include:

• Anxiety/phobias
• Depression
• Stress management
• Self-Esteem and confidence
• Perfectionism
• Emotional regulation and coping skills
• Social skills building
• Relationship challenges
• Addiction

Ella has availability to see new clients aged 10+ from 7th April on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays including outside of school hours appointments. We are so proud to have Ella join our small but mighty Toowong team!

Last week, March 16-20, was Neurodiversity Celebration Week.

And while we know we are a little late to the party, we wanted to take the week to reflect on what we actually do as a practice to provide a neuro-affirming space for our clients.

👉 We recognise the value of neurodiverse voices and lived experience

👉 We celebrate the strengths of our neurodivergent clients and team members, while holding space for the unique challenges they experience

👉 We are committed to providing appropriate accommodations and sensory supports for neurodivergent clients and team members – one of our own amazing psychologists is in the process of developing an accommodations checklist for new clients which we will be rolling out in the next few months

👉 We are a neuroaffirming-led team with both our clinical team leads at both locations practicing in this space and informing policy and change practice-wide

👉 We have a number of clinicians who work using a neuroaffirming framework and we are proud to announce we have just hired another!

We recognise that being neuro-affirming is a constant process of evolving and learning. What would you like to see us do next to better support our neurodivergent clients?
