Living Low Carb

Living Low Carb Enjoy my collection of low carb recipes I have two goals for this site:

1. We all know that you can’t outrun a bad diet!

2.

To promote a healthy, easy to follow way of eating, that will help you maintain your weight, health and vitality. To introduce anyone suffering with pain or disease caused by inflammation (which is almost every disease); to the golden curcumin drops. Using a patented German formula, these drops are 277 times more absorbable for women and 177 times more absorbable for men than normal turmeric and can help to reduce the inflammation causing numerous diseases. Here is part 1 of my story: Going Paleo/Low Carb

After going through menopause, in a last ditch effort to keep my weight under control I started eating Paleo. Unfortunately the results weren’t great due to having too many Paleo “treats”! I finally found Pete Evan’s 10 Week Programme which is where I started to learn the principles of Paleo eating. I had wonderful results, easily losing 10 kilograms and keeping them off with no effort at all and without feeling hungry. Eating Paleo was like "coming home" eating more as I did when I was a kid, a small amount of good quality protein, good quality fats and lots of vegetables. I also added sauerkraut and other fermented veggies and daily bone broth for good gut health. My weight dropped and my health blossomed. Today I eat what I call a "modified low-carb" diet – i.e. I eat intuitively, I often skip breakfast or eat mid-morning and I don’t think twice about having the odd treat, especially at the family dinner on Sunday with a homemade dessert. Part 2: Introduction to the golden curcumin drops

When I was 8 years old, I dislocated my left thumb so badly it was touching my forearm. I can still vividly remember screaming the hospital down decades later! So with the passing years and decades typing in administrative jobs, I started to develop some arthritis. I have been using turmeric for many, many years with great success, but lately I was also getting shooting pains. A friend of mine just happened to post about these amazing curcumin drops that used a patented nano technology which made the curcumin 277 more absorbable for women so I put my hand up to try a bottle. My results were astonishing, a neck injury that I had for two years disappeared overnight and five days later, an inner knee injury that was three years old and an outer knee injury that was more than 12 months old completely disappeared. Over the previous two years, I had nine alternative allied health sessions that did not resolve the pain. Before this I had joined the Disruptive Wellness Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/groups/disruptivewellness/), which is a site just for testimonials. You can use the search function to search for any ailment and I could see the results that other people were already getting for pain and illness far worse than what I was experiencing! If you wish to join to have a look, you will need to enter my name, Jan Clifford as it is a closed group. Oh yes and the thumb - no shooting pains anymore :)

Living Low Carb is dedicated to bringing you back to being able to control your weight easily without following a “starvation diet” and fantastic health, wellness and vitality through diet and a magical supplement.

I made this beautiful Chicken Saag recipe this week, it was extremely yummy! I was also extremely happy to be able to use up all the spinach from my garden that was ready for harvesting. Some of the leaves were huge! As it is a type of curry, you could make the chicken curry the day before to let the flavours develop, then when you are ready to eat it the following day, heat it up and add the spinach. I always cut the stalks first and give them a bit longer as the leaves take a few seconds to wilt.

I got this recipe from one of my favourite sites, nom nom Paleo

I am in the middle of making this recipe! I have made the tea and the fresh ginger has been soaking in it. I will let you know what it tastes like when I have finished it. When you are living a lower carbohydrate lifestyle, it's nice to have a treat every now and then :)

Edit: This was an epic fail for me - I don't really like the taste of stevia and wouldn't make the recipe again :(

This is one of my favourite vege dishes. I chop up a zucchini or two and use a Santoku knife (it's got a serrated edge) to dice the cauliflower and broccoli, chop the stalks off the spinach and cut them up and roughly slice up the spinach leaves.

Add a dob of ghee to a wok or pan and heat it up - ghee gives it a delicious flavour. Stir fry the zucchini, cauliflower and spinach stalks. Let them brown a bit (but not burn), add the broccoli, slat and pepper and cook a couple of minutes then throw the spinach on top and let it wilt.

If the veges start to dry out, just swish a tablespoon or two of water around the sides of the wok and it will help to steam them. I always put the lid on when I do this to keep the steam and moisture in. Add some salt and pepper and enjoy :)
