People will label me a health expert, and I say I am actually an expert in behaviour change. It takes far more than a new food plan to change WHO you are being when you eat.
The emotions that people attach to their food, bodies, the way they exercise and speak to themselves internally inevitably end up keeping them looping in the same yoyo way, or it stresses them out more than when they didn’t care what they were having and just ate whatever they wanted.
I’ve had someone see the results I was getting with other clients, ask me what could she do. Her goal was to be able to shop in the normal shops. Meaning, she had to shop in the plus sized stores and she just wanted to be able to walk in anywhere and try on clothes.
When I let her know a few things, she was resistant to change and said to me “I can’t eat that healthy food, I’d rather be fat and happy.” The truth is though, she was horrendously unhappy because she wasn’t able to move her body the way she desired. She was stressed all the time and food was her crutch. She never stopped snacking on refined grains and carbs.
