I’ve been busy moving a lot of dirt lately, or should I say mud!

The future herb garden is under construction with the design based on the Celtic five fold knot, I want you to explore the paths and around each turn is hopefully a new discovery.

This 25m x 25m patch will be located next to the future apothecary at one side and the propagation area at another.

This garden will be home to my 400 or so medicinal herbs and plants so when you visit you will be able to see their life cycle through the seasons. The crop beds are located on another part of the property close to the creek bed.

I can’t wait to host workshops again and share this special place with you.

Took a little walk around the FarmacyCo new herb farm today, whilst it’s still a building site and the ground prep will start in the next 2 weeks.
I found some wild harvest herbs popping up in the paddock. Stinging nettle, mullein and St. John’s wort all growing wild!

There a lot to do setting up the hoop houses, digging beds, establishing compost systems and irrigation to name just a few. It’s bloody exciting to finally get started. Watch this space as I give you a glimpse of what is involved in setting up a micro herb farm from scratch.

Let me know what you’d love to see and learn. I’ll do a little intro video over on the YouTube channel over the weekend.

Lillypilly Jelly — Sweet, Tart and a native wonder

Have a Lillypilly tree going wild in your garden? Don’t let those berries go to waste! Turn them into a stunning jelly that’s perfect on toast, with cheese, or as a glaze for roast meats. 🌿

How to make it:
1ļøāƒ£ Simmer 1kg berries + 1 cup water for 30 mins
2ļøāƒ£ Strain through muslin overnight
3ļøāƒ£ Measure juice, then add equal sugar + juice of 1 lemon
4ļøāƒ£ Boil 20–30 mins until it sets
5ļøāƒ£ Pour into sterilised jars + seal šŸ”„

šŸ’” Also try:
✨ Shrub syrup for cocktails
✨ Fruit leather for snacks
✨ Berry vinegar for salads

I love when my Lillypilly hedge is in flower and fruiting.

🌱✨ New Year, New Beginnings at The Farmacy Homestead ✨🌱

You may have noticed a little sneaky change in this page. I'm working on combining all of my interests into one spot, FarmacyCo and the Farmacy garden have given birth to encompass The Farmacy Homestead.

As we step into 2025, I’m filled with gratitude and excitement for the journey ahead. These little pots of green magic—my 180 medicinal and food plants—have been my companions through two rental homes, patiently waiting for their forever garden. Getting to know them intimately has been my joy. šŸŒæšŸ’š

This year, they’ll finally take root in the soil of our 1.5-acre slice of Eldorado paradise, where dreams of a micro herb farm and food forest are coming to life. It’s a big leap, filled with garden beds to dig, sheds to build, and irrigation to run, but it’s one I’ve been dreaming of.

The house build will start early in the new year, the bore is dug ready for a pump and a shipping container is on route to store the gardening gear. The plan is an ever changing challenge of paths and garden beds scrawled over a laminated A3 satellite photo pulling in permaculture principals, a brain dump of hopes and dreams for future apothecary workshops, an art studio and a commercial kitchen to inspire and connect with people in the common love of living off the land.

To all of you who’ve followed along, offered words of encouragement, or shared your own green adventures—thank you. Your support keeps this dream alive. 🌟

Here’s to 2025—a year of growth, connection, and transformation. May it be as kind to you as I hope it will be to my little plants. Let’s grow together. šŸŒ»šŸŒ

I definitely notice the difference now having my own hives how much they increase yield and vibrancy of all of the plants in the garden, especially the berries and food production.

🌸✨ There’s something magical about chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa). In spring, it bursts into clusters of delicate white flowers, each one dotted with tiny purple stamens—a little detail that gives them a lively charm. As the season progresses, these blossoms transform into deep, dark berries rich in antioxidants and nutrients.

Chokeberries are not only beautiful to look at but also a reminder of the quiet resilience in nature, adapting and thriving across seasons. If you’re lucky enough to spot these blooms or berries, take a moment to appreciate their beauty and the role they play in the ecosystem. šŸƒšŸ’œ
