Artists being asked to develop new creative work in support of the health and wellbeing of healthcare staff.

Question raised is: How can artists create something of value, useful and meaningful for these people, taking into consideration the time pressures of staff? Could this be something people might carry around in their pocket, reach for on a tea break, share with colleagues? Could it be a distraction, a moment of beauty, an exercise, recipe, manifesto, a wish for making wellbeing? A fifteen-minute workshop for one person perhaps?

With the support of the Creative Ireland Programme, IHF will offer commissions for artists to develop new creative work in support of the health and wellbeing

We’ve been singing, dancing, painting, writing and shouting about the benefits of the arts to health for over a decade. Always great to see new or evolving work in the field.

Studies have shown that playing music, singing, dancing and drawing can have several health benefits. Now, one group of researchers is taking studies a step further to see how specific art therapies could help treat cognitive conditions.

A truly lovely moment ... which will endure ... captured on Instagram as this artwork is added to hospital walls to ensure every patient will now have the gift of flowers.

Not every flower is everlasting, but we can only imagine how many lives these beautiful flowers will brighten. Art in our environment can make such a difference. Well done

Wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a bright start to 2021 after what has not been a year to remember in most respects. There have been some bright spots - we've just had to look harder for them - like welcoming the beautiful Asha The Tree of Life Koala into the family and onto the Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail.

Our hearts and best wishes are with everyone still battling the effects of Covid19, mentally, physically and financially. There is no doubt has played an amazingly powerful role for many people in this devastating year.
.........................................................

Have yourselves a Very Merry Christmas with best wishes from the Hello Koalas family.

Thank you to everyone for your support in what has been a such a difficult year for all. 2020 has taught us to appreciate our precious time together more than ever and to enjoy every moment of life!

A very special thank you too to our great friends Ruby and Scarlett from (Insta) for getting into the festive spirit and posing so beautifully with Asha The Tree of Life Koala at Belle Property Port Macquarie. Asha is by artist Yvonne Kiely and symbolises HOPE, TRUST and WISDOM - our wish for 2021!

Our Hello Koalas Gift Shop will be open 10am-3pm on Wednesday, December 23 at 16/10 Bellbowrie St, Port Macquarie. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 5 and resume our regular opening hours Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10am to 3pm.

Come in and say ‘Hello’ to us and a selection of sculptures. We’d love to meet you! Don’t forget there are 77 Hello Koalas sculptures in all to discover!

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2021!

A wonderful message from headspace- Port Macquarie. Self-care is especially important after the year we have had and as we approach the pressures as well as the joy of Christmas.

Love this post from

It's so true...we spend a lot of time in our heads! Making sure it’s a nice place to live sounds like a pretty good idea.. so how do you do that?

You can look after your 'headspace' by making it more calm by reducing anxiety and stress. Meditation and mindfulness support these things, but there are many other ways to create a peaceful outlook such as practicing gratitude.
Try it for yourself....
