Diet really is one of the most controllable and powerful tools you can use to create better health outcomes for you and your family.
This is always my first approach- food first- is the foundations for better health.
One of my favourite Doctors that I follow is so aligned with how I practice as a Naturopath. He suggests interviewing your GP to see if they are a good fit for you 😂 I love that! Instead, a large majority of people believe what the Doctor tells them as gospel. With a world that has a high number of obese people and climbing, thinking this is the norm, overeating and undernourished is NOT the way to feeling healthy or being healthy.
Each year or so, the labs can change the reference ranges, that's because the reference ranges are for the 95% of people that fall between those numbers. So, if we have a large population of obese, sick people... then the lab references are about those people???
As a Functional Naturopath we look at your blood work, and look for Optimal range, Doctors tend to wait until you are out of reference range then can treat the disease. Naturopathy is about preventive care and treating the underlying cause & finding the underlying causes, this may take time, some conditions are a quicker fix than others.
How long did it take you to feel out of balance?
Our body is a whole system, and we need to treat it as one. Unfortunately, diet is not enough anymore- Food really is medicine- but you have to make the changes and EAT well. With our soils being deficient, our agriculture and farming using toxic sprays and feeds, our lives being more stressful- being in flight or fight more than rest & repair- not enough sun and vitamin D- (unless you have 20 minutes per day to run around naked in the sun), exposure to more toxins in the environment, then we need certain minerals and vitamins for optimal health and longevity.
If you don't know where to start or are sick of your doctor saying you are normal, when you don't feel it, book an appointment with me 🥰
