Just sharing something that really touched me this morning. I took a little time-out to recharge at the Melbourne Botanical Gardens (just across the road from my clinic) while I was here for my Melbourne clients weekend.

As I sat by the water, listening to it gently tumble over the rocks, I overheard a little voice full of wonder say: “Oh Mummy, is it a diamond?” Her mum replied, a little sharply, “No, of course not—it’s just alfoil.” The sparkle left the little girl’s face, and she turned away. It made me wonder if that moment will stay with her as she grows. I felt compelled to capture it with a photo.

It made me reflect… what’s wrong with a little magic? What if, every now and then, we allowed ourselves to see the world through a child’s eyes—full of wonder, curiosity, and possibility? How much more beauty and joy might we notice? I believe we all need a little magic in our lives.

Stewart Wigley 10/2/51-10/2/24. Forever loved.

You may have known him. If you did you would have known what a kind, gentle, giving, funny, smart and easy-going man he was. Stewart Wigley the hardest thing I have ever had to do was to wish you well and bid you Bon Voyage. Stewart passed peacefully on his Birthday, last Saturday 10th February.

He was truly a man amongst men, a quiet achiever and strong enough to be happy to take a back seat and let everything revolve around him. An adventurous spirit, a genius in his work and a happy traveller. He had an integrity, wisdom and self-sufficiency that I have never known in anyone. I have so much gratitude that he chose to share his life and love with me, since our teenage years, and the love we have transcends time, distance and dimensions.

"When I go, don’t learn to live without me, just learn to live with my love, in a different way.

And if you need to see me, close your eyes, or look in your shadow,
when the sun shines ... I’m there.

Sit with me in the quiet and you will know that I did not leave. There is no leaving when a soul is blended with another.

When I go, don’t learn to live without me, just learn to look for me in the moments. I will be there."

Goodbye Arrangements:
There will be a Memorial service this coming Saturday, 17th Feb at 12pm at the Colac Yacht Club. All welcome. This will be followed by a gathering to celebrate his life, share stories, eat, drink, and listen to his favourite music (probably need some sort of disclaimer about that!). Wear colourful clothes and bring your memories.

🌻 Wishing you a year full of everything that makes your heart sing 🦋

On the stroke of midnight tonight,
you can resolve to be better, if you like…
to be fitter,
to eat cleaner,
to work harder.

On the stroke of midnight tonight,
you can resolve to become a whole new you,
if you so choose.

Or, you can take a moment to acknowledge
what you already are.
Because it’s a lot.
You are a lot.

And you deserve to be truly seen.

On the stroke of midnight tonight,
perhaps you could congratulate yourself for coping.
For breaking, again,
for rebuilding, again.

For catching the stones life has thrown at you,
and using them to build your castle
that little bit more beautifully.

And if you have used those stones to block yourself in for the ‘heal’, perhaps you can realign them this year. Make a grander gate, not a higher wall.

You have endured, my friend.
Through times you thought unendurable.
You did.

And I don’t see the need to resolve
to become a whole new you,
when you are already so very much indeed.

Happy new year.

You made it.

Now let us face another 365 day-turn together,
arms wide…
accepting, embracing and ‘seeing’ one other,
for all we truly are…

"My word for this year was brave.

And whilst hope has been the focus of my writing, without bravery, it would not have found its slipstream and spread its light.

I can’t quite remember how this became my word for the year but whispering it to myself when things got tough really helped.

And so I would love, if you’ll allow me, to allocate you a random word for 2024.

I was brave this year. In so many ways.

I let go, of old shackles keeping me back.
I showed up, when my inner critic scathingly told me I would fail.
I stepped out of comfort zones I love so much.
And was brave enough to come straight back into them too, knowing I can leave when I need to. Placing faith in my new courage when life calls.

And so for next year I am giving myself the word faith.

Because faith is a stepping stone, a bridge, an invisible ladder.
And a reminder that you can.
You will.
And you have, so many times.

What will your word be?
I will be simply using my instinct.
