If you want to heal your gut then getting bone broth into your diet a few times a week is one of THE BEST things you can do for yourself.
Bone broth is by far one of my favourite food as medicine recommendations for anyone suffering from gut issues. The only caveat I have, is be careful if you suffer from histamine intolerance. If this is the case, I recommend starting with small doses of homemade chicken stock, which is cooked for maximum of 30min.
So what's all the fuss about anyway?
Bone broth contains large amounts of gelatin. Gelatin is basically cooked collagen. Itβs made when you heat collagen slowly for a long period of time. It also contains high levels of alkylglycerols, which helps boost the digestive immune system. One study showed it increased lymphocytes in the small intestine by 40%!
It is also rich in a range of nutrients including calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin A, K2, boron, boron, manganese, and selenium, as well as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Bone broth is therefore a great all-round supplement for both the digestive tract and the immune system. It is a great way to get nutrients into someone with a weak digestive system.
If you can incorporate one new habit into your life over the next couple of weeks to support your gut... then this is IT! I've attached my favourite brands to this post so you have no excuses. π
