The journey to founding VRTU - Virtual Reality Therapy Unit is both deeply personal and profoundly universal. It's a story that begins at a challenging time for my family, and it's one that has blossomed into a beacon of hope for many. The inspiration for VRTU struck at a pivotal moment in our lives, a time of both joy and hardship.
After my wife and I welcomed our beautiful daughter into the world, we found ourselves grappling with the shadow of post-natal depression. This period was one of the toughest we've ever faced, but it also opened our eyes to the healing power of nature and the limitations of traditional therapy methods.
We were fortunate enough to move to a property that spanned 3600 meters, surrounded by the serene beauty of nature. Every morning, as I drew back the blinds, we were greeted with a breathtaking view that became a source of comfort and healing. This transformation was nothing short of miraculous, and it planted the seed for what would become VRTU.
It became clear to me that not everyone has the luxury to simply relocate or immerse themselves in natural beauty. Depression, especially in its more severe forms, can make it impossible for some to even leave their room. This realization was heartbreaking, but it also sparked an idea. What if we could bring the healing essence of nature to them? What if the walls that confined them could become windows to serene landscapes and tranquil scenes?
With this vision, VRTU was born. Our mission is to harness the revolutionary power of Virtual Reality (VR) to bring the therapeutic benefits of nature to those who need it most. Whether it's for individuals facing mental health challenges, those with physical limitations, or communities with restricted access to natural environments, VRTU aims to bridge the gap.
Our motto, "VISION IS THE SPARK | PASSION IS THE FUEL," reflects the journey of VRTU. The vision to leverage VR technology in mental health therapy was the spark, ignited by a personal experience that highlighted a widespread need. The passion to make a difference, to bring solace and healing to others, is the fuel that drives us every day.
