As women, we give so much of ourselves every day. We care, we nurture, we support and we make space for others. Yet it is just as important to make space for ourselves.

Taking time to listen to your body, to rest, to move and to nourish yourself helps you feel more balanced, energised and confident. Prioritising your own wellbeing allows you to show up fully in all parts of your life and to enjoy it more completely.

Your needs matter. Your body and mind deserve care and attention. Choosing to focus on yourself is a powerful and positive step. Every moment you dedicate to your wellbeing enriches your life and the lives of those around you. Celebrate yourself, make your wellbeing a priority and embrace the benefits of caring for yourself. 💙

Have you tried b**b yoga? It is a gentle way to care for your breasts, helping ease tenderness and encourage healthy fluid flow through the connective tissue. Simple movements like soft lifts, circular strokes in the armpit, and mindful breathing can feel surprisingly soothing, especially during hormonal changes such as pregnancy, lactation, menopause or the premenstrual phase.

Getting back into exercise after having a baby can feel challenging. Here are some tips to help you get moving whilst protecting your pelvic floor:

💙Do daily pelvic floor exercises – small steps make a big difference.

💙Gentle walks for 5 to 10 minutes a day are a great place to start.

💙Once your obstetrician gives the all-clear and bleeding has stopped, swimming is excellent as it is easy on your pelvic floor.

💙Listen to your body. If you notice vaginal dragging or leakage, pause and seek guidance.

For personalised advice on returning to exercise safely, call us on 94312530 or book your appointment online via our website.

Melbourne runs on coffee ☕ but your bladder might not love it as much as you do.

Caffeine is a bladder irritant and a mild diuretic. That means it can stimulate the bladder and increase how often you feel the urge to go. For some women, it can also make symptoms like urgency, frequency or leakage worse.

Common sources of caffeine include coffee, tea, energy drinks and soft drinks.

The good news is you do not always have to give up your daily flat white or iced latte. Many people notice improvement simply by reducing how much caffeine they have, spacing it out, or switching one of their coffees to a lower caffeine option.

If you are experiencing bladder urgency, frequent trips to the toilet or leakage, a women’s health physiotherapist can help assess what might be contributing and guide you with practical strategies to improve bladder control.

The answer is FALSE! Bladder leakage after having a baby is common, but it is not something normal or to be expected that you just have to live with.

Pregnancy and birth place a lot of strain on the pelvic floor muscles. When these muscles are weakened or not working well, symptoms like leaking with coughing, sneezing, running or lifting can happen.

The good news? Pelvic floor physio can help restore strength, coordination and confidence. Many women see significant improvement with the right assessment and targeted exercises.

If you are experiencing leakage postpartum, support is available and recovery is possible. 💙

Your body has done something incredible. It deserves proper care too.

Did you know Pudendal Neuralgia is a type of chronic pelvic pain caused by irritation or compression of the pudendal nerve? It can lead to sharp, burning, or shooting pain in the pelvic area, and symptoms often worsen when sitting, cycling, or during other activities that put pressure on the nerve.

Pudendal Neuralgia can affect daily life, making simple activities uncomfortable, but recognising the symptoms early is an important first step.

If you think you could be experiencing Pudendal Neuralgia, please call our clinic on 94312530 or book via our website.💙

International Women’s Day may have passed but the message of supporting and celebrating women remains as important as ever. This year’s theme reminds us that when we give support, knowledge, and care to women, we all gain.

At Womankind Physiotherapy we see this every day. Women show incredible strength and resilience in their health journeys whether it is recovering after birth, managing pelvic floor challenges, reclaiming movement, or learning to listen to their bodies. By sharing our expertise and creating a space where women feel heard and supported we are giving more than care we are giving confidence, capability, and connection.

Giving support is not just about treatment. It is about education, advocacy, and community. When women are supported and empowered opportunities multiply, communities thrive, and we all gain. 💜

Many women are told to “just do your pelvic floor exercises”, but few are shown how to do them properly. In fact, research suggests that around one in three women are not activating their pelvic floor muscles correctly. Without the right technique, the exercises may not provide the support your body needs.

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that supports the bladder, bowel and uterus. These muscles play an important role in bladder and bowel control, core stability, pelvic organ support, and sexual function. Pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, heavy lifting, chronic coughing, and ageing can all affect how well these muscles work.

Getting the technique right can make a meaningful difference for symptoms such as bladder leakage, pelvic heaviness or prolapse, and reduced core stability. Just like any other muscle group in the body, the pelvic floor responds best to the right exercise performed the right way.

If you are unsure whether you are doing your pelvic floor exercises correctly, a professional assessment can provide clarity, confidence, and a tailored plan to support your long term pelvic health. 💙

Keeping your bowels happy starts with a strong pelvic floor. Eat plenty of fibre, drink enough water, and avoid straining. Stick to a regular toilet routine with good posture, limit laxatives, and manage stress, as it can impact digestion. If things aren’t moving like they should, don’t hesitate to get professional advice. Small changes can make a big difference for your digestive health! 💙
