📚✨ What an incredible Book Week! ✨📚

A big thank you to all our wonderful children and families who helped us celebrate the joy of reading throughout the week. The creativity, costumes and enthusiasm brought so much colour and excitement to our service, and it was lovely to see the children’s love for books shining through.

Reading together helps spark imagination, build language and create special moments and this week has been a beautiful reminder of just how powerful stories can be.

Thank you to our families for your support and for making Book Week so memorable. 💛 We can’t wait to continue our reading adventures every day!

A big congratulations to Miss Sarah on stepping into the role of Educational Leader! We’re so excited to see you bring your passion, knowledge, and creativity into this space. You’ll do an amazing job guiding and supporting the team.

As Miss Taiah finishes up today, we want to thank her for all her dedication and heart in the role—your impact won’t be forgotten. Wishing you both all the best in your next chapters! 💛

A Bittersweet Farewell and a New Chapter Ahead 💛

It’s with a mix of gratitude and emotion that we say goodbye to two of our incredible educators, Miss Taiah and Miss Kung, as they take the next big steps in their journeys. These two have brought such warmth, creativity, and dedication to our centre, and the positive impact they’ve made on our children, families, and team will be felt long after they’ve gone.

Miss Taiah has been a vibrant leader in our Pre-Kindy space, bringing her cultural knowledge, passion for learning through play, and deep care for every child. Miss Kung’s gentle and nurturing approach has created calm and supportive environments for so many little learners. While we’ll miss their energy and presence greatly, we’re so proud of everything they’ve achieved and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them both. 🌟

In the spirit of new beginnings, we’re excited to announce that Miss Brianna will be stepping into the role of Lead Educator in our Pre-Kindy room. Brianna has just finished the final units of her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and is now preparing to begin her Diploma studies. Her commitment to ongoing learning, strong relationships with the children, and passion for the early years makes her a wonderful fit for this new role.

As we continue to grow and strengthen our team, we are actively seeking educators to join our fantastic team. We’re looking for passionate, reliable, and enthusiastic individuals who are ready to make a real difference in children’s lives, and who thrive in a collaborative, nurturing, and fun environment. If you’re Certificate III or Diploma qualified (or currently studying towards your Diploma) and looking for a fresh opportunity, or if you know someone who fits this description, we’d love to hear from you!

This is a time of change and growth, and we thank our families for their continued support as we welcome new team members and celebrate those who are moving on. Here’s to fresh starts, meaningful connections, and exciting opportunities ahead. 💫

Today Miss Taiah, Miss Kim, and Miss Tash had the amazing opportunity to head down the street to Emerald Community Kindergarten to attend a professional development workshop on sign language, hosted by Sunshine, Sign & Sing! ✨🤟

It was an inspiring and hands-on experience where they learned a range of key Auslan signs to support inclusive communication in early childhood settings. 🧠💬

Our educators are excited to take everything they’ve learned back to the centre, to teach their fellow educators and, most importantly, to share this knowledge with the children! ❤️

Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is a vital form of communication for many Deaf and hard of hearing people in our community. 🌏🤝 By introducing Auslan into our early childhood environment, we’re not only promoting inclusion and respect, we’re also giving children the tools to connect with others in meaningful ways, no matter their abilities. 💬💛

Learning to sign opens up so many possibilities for connection, inclusion, and understanding, and we can’t wait to start signing together! 🙌💛

🐍✨ National Snake Day Fun! ✨🐍

Today we slithered into an exciting learning experience for National Snake Day! Before meeting any special slithery guests, we had an important chat about snake safety, what to do if we ever see a snake at home or in the yard at kindy. The children learned that the safest thing to do is to tell a teacher or a parent straight away and not to touch it or pick it up! 🧠✅

After our safety talk, Miss Megan and her partner Aaron brought in their big pet snake for us to observe through the Senior Toddlers window as he was a little shy, and then Miss Megan surprised us by bringing her smaller snake into each classroom! The children sat down calmly and had the chance to gently pat the snake, such a brave and memorable moment! 💚🐍

It was a fun, educational day filled with curiosity, confidence, and lots of learning! ✨

Over the weekend, one of our families reached out after realising they had accidentally left behind Clover, a beloved comforter and important part of their child’s world. Without hesitation, our team jumped into action, even on our days off, to help reunite Clover with her family as quickly as possible. Beloved Clover had a “super fun sleepover with Mr Josh” I bet they had a great time together! 💕🧸

Moments like these remind us that our connection with families extends beyond the classroom and well beyond the Monday-to-Friday routine. We are here to support our children and their families however we can, because to us, it’s more than a job. It’s a community. ❤️

A big thank you to this lovely family who surprised us with chocolates, your kind gesture truly made our day! 🍫✨

🌟Pj Week & Gardening Fun 🌟

This morning, our Pre Kindy children got busy in the garden, helping to plant fresh seeds in our planter boxes. With curious minds and helping hands, they added new soil, placed tiny seeds into the garden beds, and gently watered them. This hands-on experience links beautifully to our current learning focus around growth and nature, and we’re so excited to watch our little garden come to life over the coming weeks. 🌱💧

Across the centre, we also kicked off PJ Week, a fun and cosy celebration where children (and educators!) are invited to wear their favourite pyjamas throughout the week. We’ve chosen to celebrate across the whole week to ensure every child gets the chance to join in, feel included, and share in the excitement. PJ Week is part of a national initiative that supports The Pyjama Foundation, raising awareness for children in foster care and reminding us of the importance of safety, comfort, and belonging.

We’re looking forward to more garden discoveries and comfy PJ fun throughout the week! 💛🌈

🌟 NAIDOC Week 🌟

Today, Miss Taiah headed down to Lions Park to proudly represent First 5 Years and take part in the incredible NAIDOC Week 2025 community celebrations! 🖤💛❤️ It was a day filled with culture, connection, and community spirit.

Miss Taiah made the most of the event by gathering valuable information and resources to share with our team, and she also had the chance to catch up with some very familiar faces from the community 🤝😊

She was especially excited to bump into Miss Laurel, who sends a big hello to everyone at First5Years and says hello and she misses us all so much! 💌💕

It’s always such a privilege to be part of these important moments, celebrating the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are proud to walk alongside our community in unity and respect. 🌏✊🏽

In light of recent discussions in the media, we want to take a moment to shout out and celebrate the incredible work of our male educators. ✨

At our centre, we are proud to have passionate, caring, and dedicated male teachers who play such a vital role in shaping the lives of the children in our care. The children absolutely adore them, whether it’s through play, storytelling, rough-and-tumble games, or simply offering a listening ear, they bring something truly special to the learning environment. ❤️

👦👧 Representation matters, having male educators in early childhood settings helps children see that nurturing, teaching, and caregiving are roles for everyone. It breaks down outdated stereotypes, creates richer social experiences, and encourages boys and girls to form respectful and trusting relationships with adults of all genders.

We believe that diversity in education matters, and that includes gender diversity. Every child deserves to be surrounded by role models who reflect the real world, kind, strong, gentle, fun, supportive, and wise, no matter their gender. 🩷

Mr Josh and Mr James, we thank you for all you do. You’re making a lasting impact and helping to pave the way for a more inclusive and balanced future in early childhood education. 💪🌱✨

🌿NAIDOC Week Celebrations Begin! 🌿
This week, we proudly begin our NAIDOC Week celebrations with the theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.” ❤️

Our classrooms are embracing this important week with beautiful activities that explore and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. From storytelling and art, to conversations about Country and connection, we are learning, listening and celebrating together. 💛❤️🖤💙🤍💚

And… Happy World Chocolate Day! 🍫
Because what’s better than culture AND chocolate? Today our classrooms also had a sweet celebration in honour of World Chocolate Day! Think chocolate playdough, cocoa-scented sensory tubs, and maybe even a cheeky chocolate treat or two (shhh, don’t tell the educators 😜).

It’s a beautiful start to the week with hearts full of culture and hands full of chocolate! 💫

🌟 Happy Birthday Miss Megan 🌟

Today we celebrated Miss Megan in true pink style! The centre was filled with pink balloons, streamers, decorations, and of course, delicious pink cupcakes! 🧁

To top it all off, we had a special visit from a face painter, making the day even more magical for everyone. 🎨🖌️

Thank you, Miss Megan, for sharing your special day with us. We loved celebrating with you! 💕🎈
