Orientation Day! 👋
Today we welcomed a new group of Nursing and Speech Pathology students to Emerald!

🩺 Our nursing students will be based at the Emerald Medical Group and Emerald Hospital,
💬 while our speech therapy students will assist in the Allied Health Student-Led Clinic at Emerald Medical Group.

These students will have the opportunity to experience the unique and rewarding world of rural health.

🌟 Staff and Social Work students attended the Positive Ageing Breakfast in Emerald on 26 September 2025.

Our SW students shared information about the Allied Health Student-Led Clinic at Emerald Medical Group , explained the role of a social worker, and added some fun to the morning with an engaging ice-breaker, mindfulness activities, chair yoga, and a guided mindfulness body scan.

A big thank you to everyone for having us—it was a wonderful event to be part of! 🙏✨

🧠Dementia Symposium🧠

The Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health recently hosted a highly engaging Dementia Seminar, bringing together health professionals, students, and community members for a day of shared learning and discussion.

The program featured expert presentations on early assessment, case studies, and best-practice approaches to dementia care, with a strong emphasis on practical strategies for rural and remote settings.

Participants valued the depth of information presented, the interactive case discussions, and the opportunity to connect with colleagues committed to improving dementia support. The seminar reinforced the importance of collaborative care, ongoing professional development, and community engagement in responding to the growing challenges of dementia.

We thank our presenter Dr Eddy Strivens and attendees for contributing to such a meaningful event.👏👏
