1 Hour Walks

1 Hour Walks We are a small group who walk on Thursday mornings 9.30-10.30am. The walks are generally within approx. a 30min drive of Upper Beaconsfield.

If you’d like to join us please send me a message. The walks start at different places each week, all within around a 30min drive of Upper Beaconsfield and are generally 3-4km long. Our goal is to get out and about each week, to walk, chat, and see some beautiful local spots, all while reaping the many benefits that walking has to offer. We welcome new members of all ages and fitness levels. Our pace, however, is more on the gentle side, with stops to look at the views and nature's wonders, and to take photos, so if you are looking for a hardcore workout, we are probably not the group for you :)

Another chilly walk this morning...
Five of us braved the cold. It was ok while chatting in the car park, but it definitely dropped a few degrees with the wind once we were on the wall itself. It was good to be back after many months of the dam being drained and not looking its best.

We strolled along for a decent amount of time, but eventually a vote was taken and the unanimous result was to head back to the cars for another chat before heading home.

We passed a few others braving the weather, so we obviously aren't completely crazy, or we were in good company.

Fingers crossed for some nicer weather for next week 🤞

With the rain pouring down as I drove to the meeting place, I wondered if it would just be me and the dog as it got heavier. But I shouldn't have worried, as some equally crazy souls started to arrive. As we headed off on the walk, we were being watched by some odd looking locals.

Luckily the sun came out and the rain stopped not long after we started and we had a lovely walk in the end.

Big thanks to Sue( who's very local) for leading the way 🌟

It was another chilly day for our walk, this time in Emerald. We hadn't done this walk for a while, and on the way back to the cars I remembered why...it's uphill all the way🙄 It's not terribly steep and we did see some interesting plants and trees to distract us. We had 2 fallen trees to step ove during the walk, thankfully not big ones.

Near the carpark, the grass near the pines was so green & fresh that it looked fake.

Due to the weather and illness, it was a small but hardy group who set out on this morning's walk & the rain had stopped by the time we left. We headed to a cafe that was about halfway through that we hadn't been to before. We were celebrating a milestone birthiday of one of our founding members. She's been walking with the group most weeks since July 2016!

The "Something Good" Cafe in Beaconsfield definitely lived up to its name, and my warm brownie & Iced coffee were delicious. We sat outside in the enclosed area as I had my dog with me and, even in this weather, it was nice and cosy thanks to the overhead heaters. We will definitely be back.

Our resident camera woman was home sick, and I forgot to take any photos so I'll use one from a previous walk.

Another glorious morning for a walk starting at Emerald Lake Park. This walk takes us away from the lake via a path through the stunning gum trees and, at this time of year, the brilliant yellow wattle.
A highlight is crossing the bridge over the creek and looking down on the beautiful tree ferns below. Then up the road to one of Puffing Billy's crossings and stations, and the entrance to Wrights Forest. A quick rest & photo, then it's back the way we came. The bridge over the lake was also looking glorious today.

Another lovely morning walk in Berwick with some returned travellers back from their adventures.
This area of Berwick is hidden down no through roads filled with houses ranging from traditional to super modern to art deco to “what were they thinking?” all set against a backdrop of green fields in the distance. It’s our version of Grand Designs.

This lovely tree with the mass of flowers underneath caught our eye.

Another walk with good weather and good company, this time at Toomuc Creek in Pakenham. There’s been lots of work done since last time we were there with large areas of w**d trees removed allowing views across the creek and more local trees being planted.

We also spotted some lovely spring flowers and little bee hives in one of the adjoining gardens, and of course, a steady stream of wonderful dogs & their people to say hello to.

Sadly no swans again and not much bird life, but hopefully they’ll be more next time when the weather is warmer.

Frog Hollow was our destination this week. It’s a great spot for people of all ages & fitness levels because you can pick and choose where & how far to walk with well maintained tracks and a playground and toilets as well.

Follow the path under the freeway and there’s a fenced off-lead dog park, lots of grass for kids to play & run and a couple of paths that can offer a much longer walk or run.

We also enjoyed the antics of the little fairy wrens hopping and flying around.

Surprisingly lovely weather for this morning's walk at Cardinia Creek Parklands. A nice flat gravel path, stunning gum trees, the sun shining, green hills as a backdrop and wonderful company, what else could you ask for?

We did a walk today that we hadn't done for 2 years. Not sure why it's been so long, but luckily, we remembered which way to go. The most exciting part was when one of the walkers spotted a snake next to the path! It's a popular spot for them, right next to a large pond, and this one looked like it had a nice breakfast and was having a sunbake. So keep an eye out when you're walking now the weather is getting warmer.

Also saw some huge wacky-looking plants.
