WHAT IS GUT DYSBIOSIS?

Dysbiosis is the name given to a microbial imbalance within the gut . The number of microbes ( mostly bacteria) outnumber the cells in our body!!
When the microbial population, collectively referred to as a microbiome , is out of balance , many health problems can ensue, including eczema.

THE INSIDE OUT APPROACH TO ECZEMA

The standard approach to eczema treatment is to apply a topical lotion, cream or ointment. The goal is to decrease the inflammation of the skin and stop the itching.
The limitation with this standard approach is that it is only treating the symptom.
If the skin is inflamed, itching and red on the surface, it is telling us that there is something out of balance on the inside.
This is the foundation of naturopathic philosophy.
Whilst relieving the itching and irritation on the surface is vitally important to calm and heal the skin, we must address what is out of balance on the inside.
We must go within.
We must look at the whole person.
We must look at the entire environment of the individual.
Doing this, will help us get to the cause of the eczema.
For this reason, I call this the inside out approach.
We must look to the inside, to reveal the clues and signs as to what is disturbed and causing the skin to be flared and itchy.
It often involves gut health, food allergies/intolerances/sensitivities, nutrient deficiencies and stress .
