Digestion begins with a signal.

This signal comes from your G-cells.

G-cells release gastrin to stimulate acid production — initiating protein breakdown and nutrient release.

This is why chronic stress, low vagal tone and certain infections can impair digestion upstream.

When stomach signalling is disrupted, nutrient absorption and metabolic regulation downstream can be affected.

Gut physiology is deeply connected to endocrine health.

Your stomach is the ignition switch of digestion.

If it doesn’t fire properly, the rest of the gut can’t compensate.

Next, I’ll introduce you to the gut cells that regulate your metabolism via GLP-1 — yes, the same hormone everyone is talking about right now.

Your body already makes it.

LOW TOX TUESDAY 🌿

This week’s swap: conventional toner → witch hazel.

Many toners contain fragrance and alcohol blends that can disrupt your skin barrier and trigger dryness or irritation.

Witch hazel is a simple, plant-based alternative that supports pores and redness without unnecessary extras.

I personally use T.N. Dickinson’s — and while I don’t stock this one, it’s available at most supermarkets and chemists, making it an easy, affordable change.

How I use it?
I decant into a spray bottle, mist after cleansing, then apply moisturiser while my skin is still slightly damp.

Small swaps. Sustainable changes. Less overall toxic load.

If you’re allergy-prone, infection-prone, struggling with IBS, eczema, food intolerances or recurring inflammatory flares — you may be caught in a gut–immune loop.

And that loop doesn’t resolve by chasing symptoms.

It requires structure.

This program uses a staged, evidence-informed pathway designed to restore gut ecology and rebalance immune function properly.

Not aggressively.
Not all at once.
Not with guesswork.

But through strategic progression and individualised care.

I’ll be officially opening my Gut–Immune Restoration Program on Monday 9th March, with limited 1:1 places available.

More details coming soon.

These Chelsey Jean lymphatic gloves were a hit at the markets this weekend!

I brought along a small batch of the Chelsea Jean lymphatic gloves… and completely sold out.

It was so lovely seeing how many of you are prioritising lymphatic support — because your lymphatic system plays a huge role in immune health, detoxification, and fluid balance.

Unlike your circulatory system, your lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump. It relies on movement, breathing, and gentle stimulation to keep fluid flowing and waste products clearing effectively.

Lymphatic Massage

Signs your lymphatic system may need some extra support can include:
• Puffiness or fluid retention
• Feeling sluggish or heavy
• Frequent colds or lowered immunity
• Brain fog or fatigue
• Skin congestion
• Tender or swollen lymph nodes

How to use lymphatic gloves:
Start by gently activating the lymph nodes (chest, clavicle, armpits, neck, abdomen, groin), then use light sweeping strokes to move fluid toward these drainage points. The key is gentle pressure — lymph vessels sit just under the skin, and pressing too hard can actually slow flow rather than support it.

If you would like more more detailed instructions on how to use the gloves, head to the Wellness Hub at my website (https://jacquigruber.com.au/wellness-hub) and download the "Lymphatic Massage - How to Guide", or jump over to Chelsey Jeans page for videos and more on how to use the gloves.

I personally love incorporating this into my morning routine — it’s simple, grounding, and incredibly supportive for overall health.

I’m hoping to be back at the Emu Park Markets this month, and will have more gloves available.

I did sell out last time, so if you’d like me to set a pair aside for you to pick up at the markets, just send me a DM and I’ll reserve one for you.

Freezing bread really does change how your body digests it — but it’s not magic.

When bread is frozen and then toasted, some of its starch becomes “resistant starch,” which slows digestion and leads to a slightly smaller blood sugar spike.

But the key word is slightly.

Total carbohydrate intake, portion size, and what you eat alongside your carbs will always have a much bigger impact on metabolic health.

Think of freezing bread as a small supportive strategy — not a free pass to eat unlimited amounts.

Metabolic health is built through consistent daily habits, not single food hacks.

To reduce blood sugar spikes when eating bread:
✓ Keep portions moderate
✓ Pair with protein, fat, or fiber
✓ Choose whole or sourdough when possible
✓ Freezing + toasting can provide an extra small benefit

Winter doesn’t suddenly “cause” immune issues.
It reveals what’s already there.

If your gut lining is inflamed…
If your microbial diversity is low…
If your immune system is already on edge…

Winter simply applies pressure.

Autumn gives us something powerful: time.

Twelve weeks is enough to calm inflammation, strengthen the gut barrier, improve microbial resilience and support immune signalling properly — not just symptom-manage.

If you’re someone who:
• catches everything going around
• flares with eczema or sinus issues in winter
• reacts to more and more foods
• struggles with bloating or IBS

Now is the window.

Not when winter hits.
Not when you’re already exhausted.

Your gut doesn’t start in your stomach.
It starts in your mouth.

This is where digestion is switched on. Where enzymes are released. Where your nervous system decides whether you’re in “rest and digest” or “fight and flight.”

If we skip this step — everything downstream has to work harder.

In clinic, I often see people focusing on supplements, testing and protocols… but the most foundational digestive support sometimes starts with how we eat, not just what we eat.

Slow down. Sit down. Chew.

Save this post to remind you what you should be doing at your next meal.

Over the coming weeks I’m walking you through your digestive system step by step — so you understand what’s happening inside your body and why it matters for gut, immune, thyroid and metabolic health.

Next stop: your stomach.

🌿 I’ll be at the markets this Saturday! 🌿

I’ve decided (a little last minute!) to join the open day markets at Seaspray this Saturday and I’d love to see you there.

I’ll be bringing along a selection of my favourite low-tox, practitioner-quality products — all carefully chosen, and all products that I personally use and trust.

If you’ve been curious about naturopathy, metabolic health, thyroid support, gut health, or simply want to explore natural options to support your wellbeing, come and say hello. I’m always happy to chat and answer questions.

📍 Seaspray Open Day
📅 Saturday 28th Feb
⏰ 8am - 12pm

We tend to think of the gut as a digestion tube.

But it’s so much more than that.

Your gut is:

• A hormone-producing organ
• A metabolic regulator
• An immune interface
• A nutrient absorption surface
• A communication hub with your brain

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to introduce you to the cells that quietly influence your energy, metabolism, thyroid function and hormonal balance.

Because when we understand the physiology, we stop guessing. And we start addressing dysfunction upstream.

Save this series and follow along to learn more about the physiology of your gut.
