A Year of Commitment to Reconciliation Action Plan
Over the past year, our team has worked with dedication to bring our Reconciliation Action Plan to life. These actions were not just ideas on paper, they required ongoing effort, reflection and strong relationships to ensure they were meaningful for our children, families and educators.
We worked closely alongside local First Nations community members, taking the time to listen, learn and collaborate when organising workshops, small-group experiences and the development of our bush tucker gardens. Building these connections has been an important and respectful process, and one we are proud to continue.
Our educators actively sought out new organisations and professional development opportunities, investing time into learning how to confidently embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into everyday practice. This included engaging in Maiarla Dreaming sessions with Kiz Costelloe, participating in hands-on cultural workshops with Warama Culture, and undertaking professional development through Koori Curriculum. Educators also stayed informed through current publications, reviewed our inclusive policies using Narragunnawali guidance, and reflected together as a team on how we can continue to grow and strengthen our practice.
We have intentionally embedded Acknowledgement of Country into our daily routine, supporting children to understand why it is important, not just when we say it. We have also worked hard to expand our diverse books, resources, toys and art experiences, ensuring our learning environments truly reflect inclusion, kindness and respect.
Through consistent actions, educator role modelling and thoughtful planning, we are creating a culture of belonging, where all children, families and educators are welcomed, valued and respected. This work matters, and we are committed to continuing this journey together. ๐๐คโค๏ธ
