I often remind clients, I am here for the whole family. I recognise this is a huge transition for everyone within the family unit.

When I am at a birth, I am careful not to get in the way of a couple doing their thing, I just want to fade into the background, go about my doula things and let you guys be in your oxytocin bubble.

I've had some beautiful messages of thanks from partners/spouses over the years, here are a couple of snippets 🤍.

✨At Your Side turns 5! ✨

I'm taking a moment to celebrate and be thankful!

I remember sitting on my couch, applying for an ABN and thinking “I have absolutely no idea what I am doing but here goes.”

I never had any particular career aspirations, I just knew I wanted to be a mum and that's all I had really thought about. So to find a job I love which also allows me to be the mum I want to be, is such a gift.

Thank you to my family who continually support me and keep everything going when I have to run off to a birth.

Thank you to my friends who cheer me on, recommend me to every pregnant woman they know 😂and encourage me.

And thank you to my beautiful clients who entrust me to be in their space during this precious time of growing, birthing and raising babies. I pinch myself that this is my job.

In the past 5 years I have supported 95 women and their families (across all my services) and each and every one has left a mark on me in some way.

Thank you to my little online community for following along too. I am here and ready to help if you need me!

Big love,

G. x

This is my why 🤍.

This mumma did a breastfeeding class with me a few months ago after a really challenging experience feeding her first baby. We then did a home visit when bub was a few days old. We made a few tweaks with positioning and latch, talked about how to tell if feeding is going well, normal expectations for the newborn period and more. Then, an IBCLC ruled out a tongue tie (out of my scope of practice). I then provided phone support for some follow up questions and here we are!

Having the right support and education is vital to overcoming challenges, boosting your confidence and setting you on the path for reaching your breastfeeding goals. I’m here for you, reach out via DM if you would like some breastfeeding support!

Thank you so much Pam 🙏🏻. I loved supporting you and am so proud of you ❤️.

Birth trauma doesn’t just stay in the birth room. It can follow you into parenting in ways you never expected.

You might notice yourself reacting in ways that feel out of proportion, snapping over something small, feeling paralysed by a decision, checking on your baby over and over. Or maybe it’s quieter: a numbness you can’t shake, a constant hum of fear, or the urge to keep control over every little detail.

These responses aren’t proof that you’re failing as a parent. They’re signs your nervous system is still on high alert, shaped by an experience where you felt unsafe, unseen, or powerless.

Rage. Intense fear. Numbness. Seeking constant validation. Difficulty making decisions. Obsessive checking. Inconsistent boundaries. Pervasive guilt. Overprotectiveness. Maternal gatekeeping and micromanagement. These can all be ways trauma shows up in the day-to-day of parenting. They’re not choices, they’re survival patterns. And like all survival patterns, they can be understood, worked with, and softened through support.

If you recognise yourself in any of these, know you are not broken, and you are not alone. With the right tools and a safe space to process what happened, parenting can begin to feel lighter. If you’d like support to get there, you can reach out or book via the link in my bio.
