How to overcome pain from injuries in 3 steps
1️⃣ See a GP
- get any medical treatments you need
(eg. medications or injections)
- get scans you may need
(eg. xray, blood tests, etc.)
2️⃣ Use short term pain relief:
- Medication & Injection therapies
(recommended by GP)
- Change how you move
(do this only if you need to)
eg. take more breaks during activities,
use uninjured body part more,
use different movement patterns etc.
- Use equipment or assistive devices
eg. crutches, walking sticks / frames
- Get help from others to
do activities you need to do
eg. groceries & cleaning
- Try out “quick fixes”
eg. massage, dry needling, cupping,
special oils, vitamins, etc.
(Don't over-rely on these)
If these DO NOT work for you,
don’t think you’re out of options.
Just move on to step 3.
3️⃣ Improve your body’s capacity:
- Learn about your condition
and things that affect it.
- Slowly get back to doing
your normal activities
(even if it’s uncomfortable)
- Spend time on self-care
- Exercise
- Eat healthy
- Sleep better
- Control your stress
- Drink and smoke less
- Maintain good relationships
- If recommended, get surgery.
For conditions that are not life-threatening,
surgeries are optional.
Surgeries don’t have a 100% success rate.
There are risks of complications during and after the surgery.
