This young man took time out of his schedule to pay a visit and catch up during the small break.

Whilst his skills are undeniable and there’s proof he loves a celly, the thing that impressed us the most about him was his ability to stay grounded, remain loyal and stick to his roots.

We were privileged to be a small part of his last year at and look forward to his new journey with

Welcome to our newest team member, Zane!

Zane recently completed his Doctor of Physiotherapy course at The University of Melbourne. He completed placement with us and made a big impression, so much so that we felt we needed to add him to our team.

Throughout his Physiotherapy degree, he had been fortunate to gain experience in a variety of sporting environments.

Some key highlights include working with:

• Coburg Lions VFL
• Calder Cannons
• Victorian Young Guns Squad
• U18’s Victorian Metro teams
• West Coast Eagles (AFLW)

Zane has a keen interest in lower limb injuries and running mechanics, which he is looking forward to exploring with us at The Athlete HQ!

Returning to running is one of the earliest “major” milestones during ACL-R rehabilitation. One of the most common questions asked after injury is “when can I start running again?”

Although we may have predictions on when this might happen, it is different for each person and we take what the rehab journey gives us.

These days, it is fairly common to have a battery of testing that an athlete needs to tick off before running. One of the most important to manage before and during the early stages of running is swelling.

Before this last assessment in the video, Sienna had already ticked off all the other requirements we needed of her to be cleared for running. We have been tracking her swelling throughout her whole rehab, and because things can change quickly, it’s the last thing we like to test before someone’s return to run clearance is finalised.

Whilst the preference is to have no swelling at all before running, we have to take this in the context of how the athlete’s rehabilitation has panned out and work with the surgeon to ensure we are not taking unnecessary risks.

Given the mountain of work Sienna has done, the minimal fluctuation in swelling over the last few weeks, her testing results from the battery we use and the surgeon’s go-ahead to start running, we are confident that she is ready to run.

Despite being cleared, we need to continue to monitor her swelling response to running and a new training focus in the gym.

To be able to capture these moments in an athlete’s journey is huge and we aim to celebrate all the wins along the way. We couldn’t be prouder of Sienna!!

Looking forward to seeing how her running goes over the next few weeks!

And just like that, today marks a year since we opened the doors of The Athlete HQ.

It only feels like yesterday that we moved from a small, humble space in Epping that we had for 4 years, to a bigger and better athlete facility in South Morang.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way, especially our clients who put trust in us and what we do. We couldn’t make it anywhere without you.

Here’s to the many more years ahead 🎉
