👁 Meet Dr Rahul Dubey – Ophthalmologist and subspecialty trained Vitreo-Retinal & Cataract Surgeon at PersonalEYES.

Australian-trained, Dr Dubey completed advanced fellowships in Medical and Surgical Retina, and Uveitis at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield (UK).

Most of our doctors can be found in multiple locations on any given day. Often spending a morning session in one clinic and an afternoon session in another.

Once in a while, we get the opportunity to travel with the doctors.

In this particular car ride, we got really candid with Dr Bala about life as a doctor.

My key take away 🔐

Being a doctor isn't always about medications and treatments to fix our patients.

Sometimes, the real kind of medicine is a doctor who is willing to listen and to understand ✨️

🎒👶 Looking After Little Eyes 👶🎒

With more screen time and less outdoor play, more children are developing short-sightedness (myopia) at a younger age. Left unchecked, this can progress rapidly and impact their future vision.

Encourage outdoor activity, limit recreational screen time, and make sure kids get regular eye checks. Healthy habits today = clearer vision tomorrow.

Their dedication, leadership, and ongoing work in the fight against glaucoma continue to make a real difference for patients across Australia.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, great strides are being made in glaucoma research, right here is Australia. 🙌

Last year's Quinlivan Research Grant recipient Associate Professor Andrew White, from the Westmead Institute of Medical Research said: "The funding we received from Glaucoma
Australia has allowed us to assemble a highly skilled team with expertise in things like AI and genetic sequencing. It has also allowed us access to the sophisticated technology needed to get the best out of our research".

In fact, A/Prof White and his brilliant team have already reached a very exciting point and are in the final stages of stability studies to assess the safety and efficacy of irbesartan administered as eye drops. They have also started recruiting for neuroprotective trials of the drug, which will be the first of their kind anywhere in the world.

We are getting a step closer to a cure and want to leave NO stone unturned!
