💛 GO GENTLY 🌿

Our end-of-year get-together on Monday was touched by the Bondi Beach tragedy.
Some of us were tired, some of us were grieving, some just needed a “morning with the girls” to feel a little less alone. 💛
We paused, then shook ourselves off and turned to brighter thoughts—our way of celebrating our year and our community.
Non-attachment doesn’t mean not caring; it means holding space for all of it.

I heard from a number of people about how precious our little yoga community is.
“It’s not just the yoga—it’s the wonderful group of people you’ve brought together.”
For that, I’m deeply grateful. 🙏

As we head into the break, I’m reminded of my LovingKindness wishes:
“May all be happy.
May all be healthy.
May all be safe and loved.
May all have peace in their lives.”

Classes are now on pause for a little rest—we’ll gather again in the new year.

Take gentle care of yourselves and each other. 🌿

❓ TOO BUSY TO REST? 😖

Why does no one seem to want Restorative Yoga anymore? It's all about intentionally resting...

Yesterday afternoon I attended a 90-minute sound bath. Being still, bathed in soundscapes, guided through meditation—it was exactly what my overloaded brain needed. 😌

My mind keeps saying "there's no time to rest," but my body strongly disagrees. Even though Restorative Yoga is generally done without music, the sound bath drowned out all the mind chatter and let me actually rest.

It was such a good reminder that rest isn't a luxury—it's fuel. And it had me wondering: is intentional "doing nothing" time better than procrastinating and unfocused drifting? 🤔

So I'm planning to intentionally do nothing for at least 10 minutes each day this busy season. Want to try it with me? Your "do nothing" could be meditation, pranayama, a phone-free walk, playing with the kids—whatever helps you rest. Share what you're doing and tag . 👍

⁉️ DISTRACTED 😖
Yesterday’s practice was meant to be simple: 5 minutes movement, 5 minutes pranayama, 5 minutes meditation—the 5/5/5 reset I’m learning in my current course with Jivana Heyman . It felt so nourishing I gifted myself an extra 10 minutes of yoga nidra. What better thing to do given we had no power after yesterday’s storm? 😊

But the day had other plans. I’d been out earlier and asked Hubby to get his own lunch. After waiting over four hours—including cancelling one order because it took too long—his cold fried chicken finally arrived. With no power and no microwave to warm it, I could feel his frustration as I rested there. It was all I could do to stay still and follow the guided instructions without losing my calm. 🤯

Distractions don’t stop the practice—they become the practice. Non-attachment isn’t not caring; it means cultivating peace in the middle of the world’s noise and emotions.

If your meditation gets interrupted, that’s not failure. It’s just meditation in the real world.

Have your meditations ever become lessons in balance and calmness? 💭

“Be patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender; it’s holy ground. There’s no greater investment.”

I'm struggling. 😔

As the year draws to an end, I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and tired, challenged to find balance amid so many demands pulling at me. But I’m learning to be gentle with myself—taking small steps towards healing through restorative yoga and gradual changes to my diet. It’s not always easy to ask for help, but I’m reminded that growth is fragile and requires patience. 💖

And I need to learn that I can’t do everything! 🙇🏽‍♀️

If you’re feeling the same, remember it’s okay to begin where you are, practise self-compassion, and keep moving forward one tiny step at a time. 🚶‍♀️

What small step are you taking today to be kind to yourself? 💬

🧹 CLEAR SPACE, CALM MIND 💭

Spring cleaning? Decluttering? Ever faced a mountain of clutter and wondered, “Where do I begin?” 😖

That’s exactly how I felt after my husband lost two close relatives recently. I found myself sorting through over 10 large garbage bags of possessions — mostly clothes — which felt overwhelming. Some clothes were good enough for op shops, but many were labelled with their names (because both were living in aged care facilities) or damaged, so these clothes were likely be discarded.

Beyond the clothes, we still have boxes of possessions and papers sitting around from when we helped move them into care facilities. All that clutter just blows my mind and weighs me down. 🤯

Psychologists say that cluttered spaces can increase stress, while clearing physical clutter frees up mental space, increases focus, and helps us feel more in control. 👍

In my latest blog post, I share the Sydney-based recycling, donation, and disposal services I’ve found helpful for managing all this stuff and more—including everyday items that often end up in our rubbish bins like bottle tops and coffee cups. If you’re facing your own decluttering challenge or want to learn local options for responsibly passing on belongings, this post could be a great resource.

✋ ENOUGH. 💥

I call myself an all-or-nothing girl—always thinking of the to-do’s, trying to squeeze in one more thing, stretching myself thinner and thinner. Even when the body signals for rest, I keep pushing until my body finally shouts: “Enough.” And I’m forced to stop. 😶‍🌫️

This is the third year in a row I’ve found myself unwell at this time. You’d think I’d have learned my lesson by now. I’ve spent this week trying (and failing) to ward off the flu—just so I could join my sister for a little getaway. I’m still not 100%, but this time of connection, rest, and ocean air has been healing. 💙

If your body is calling for rest, don’t ignore it.

Rest. Breathe. Heal. ✨
Rest isn’t weakness. There’s strength in the pause.

With the long weekend here, take time for yourself—however you need it most. There are no classes on Monday, so give yourself permission to simply rest. 😴
