Happy Valentines Day!
Valentines day is a wonderful reminder of the importance of co-regulation for self regulation. Although it may sound like something
internal to an individual, self-regulation develops through relationship with others such as parents, teachers, friends, partners, coaches, and mentors.
As humans, we were designed for relationship and it is through relationship that we are able to thrive. Though valentines day is recognised as a day for romantic relationships, any safe relationship with others (colleagues, friends, family, and even pets) can be used for co-regulation and subsequently increased your ability to self-regulate.
Here are 3 ways that you can practice co-regulation today!
1. Read a book out loud to someone else
2. Give or receive a slow massage
3. Dance with someone and work to mirror their movements fluidly
