The love they give and want you to receive is whole hearted. They are with you for all of it. They will ask you how you are until you feel like you can really mean it. They’ll make you food. Hang your washing on the days when all you can do is hang your head. They’ll show up- every time. They’ll speak to your soul and really know you. They’ll love your kids like their own. They will cheer you on for big and small victories.
And if you feel like your friendships don’t have the qualities have a think on this…
You can’t give what you don’t know and this is the case so often when we find ourselves in friendships that aren’t meeting our needs emotionally.
We might find that there is more comparison, complaining, judgement, lack of empathy, and general disconnect in relationships where one person is actively working on their inner growth and one is not.
It’s not the the relationship has changed, it was likely this way from the beginning. But YOU have changed and as a result of that you are growing beyond many things. People, places and things that do not align with the peace and compassion you are finding within. It’s not that these older relationships aren’t with good people, they just can’t give you the kind of connection they are yet to find with themselves.
It’s ok to allow friendships to have seasons. Some that are close and connected and others that aren’t so much. It’s ok for people to come and go from your life in ways that serve you both.
