Nourishment for mothers is not just about food or supplements.

From a nervous system perspective true nourishment is what regulates us.

Sunlight and the high frequency of natural fibres on the skin.
Barefoot on earth.
A hot drink made with love.
The scent of your children held close.
Space to truly be yourself and be seen.
Storytelling and healing with other women.

These may seem like small acts but they are incredibly nourishing. They signal safety to the body and nervous system.

Sometimes they can be easy to overlook. I think the simplest act of romanticising life can also be enough to provide a different perspective. 🤍

I feel like I’m only now softly landing after an incredible few days at the last week as an ambassador for speaking about the magic of plants and the simple yet profound ways we can weave herbal medicine and connection to the natural world into our everyday lives. 🌿✨

Humans and plants belong together. 🪻🌸

I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined as a little university student sipping on Pukka herbal tea that one day I would be their ambassador and invited to incredible opportunities such as these. To be paid to speak about plants and to share about my culture is a dream come true. 🥹😭

Grateful and honoured. Thank you

To my beautiful mother and Grandmother who are now in the Dreamtime, I hope you’re both proud of me. Oh how I wish you were here. 🥲

Nature shifts through each season and so too do the rhythms of our body. 🍂🍁

As women we’re not designed to be the same every day.
We’re cyclical and ever changing.

Yet we’re taught to push through and keep going
To override what our bodies are asking of us.

Autumn is an invitation to soften
To nourish more deeply
To create warmth and safety in our body

This is how hormones are supported.

Not pushing ourselves to always do more
Perhaps it’s just doing what’s needed and leaving the rest for another day.

Soft days
Slow meals
Morning light
Gentle movement
Deep nourishment

Just as nature slows down during this season, so too can you mama. 🫶🏾🍁

A sleep deprived (especially chronic) mother has a huge amount of metabolic and nervous system demands placed on her.

And whilst we cannot change the broken nights we can increase the capacity of a mother to cope with these demands.

And if you are in this season, sending lots of love to you. I’m right here with you in this season too. 🤍

Fertility declines with age but it is not an abrupt drop at 35.

While ovarian reserve (egg quantity) decreases over time, egg quality is influenced by modifiable factors.

Oocyte development occurs over approximately 90 days, during which time:

• oxidative stress
• mitochondrial function
• nutrient availability
• endocrine balance
• environmental exposures

can all impact developmental potential.

This is where preconception care becomes important.

Evidence suggests that optimising health prior to conception may:
• improve oocyte and embryo quality
• support implantation
• improve IVF outcomes

Age matters but it is not the only factor.

Your egg quality can always be improved. 🤍
