Persistent swelling, pain or disproportionate fat distribution that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise? It may be more than “just weight gain.”

In our latest blog, we’re shining a light on lipoedema, a chronic condition that is still widely misunderstood, but increasingly recognised by health professionals.

We explore what lipoedema is, common signs and symptoms, how it differs from general weight gain, its connection to the lymphatic system, and how supportive, individualised care can help.

For many women, getting the right information can be the first step toward finally understanding what’s happening in their body. 💛

We love sharing successful patient stories!!

Moi Moi had been experiencing painful hand/foot toxicity (burning sensation) and numbness in her hands and feet for 3 years as a result of the side effects of chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer.

She has also been suffering chronic back pain since 2015.

The treatment we deliver is called photobiomodulation (PBMT) using a the MLS Laser is a Class IV therapeutic medical laser, to minimise the side effects of cancer treatment. It is non-invasive, reduces inflammation and pain, reduces swelling, and promotes tissue healing.

After 1 treatment, the burning sensation in Moi Moi’s feet were gone.
After 3 treatments, the numbness in her feet has 90% resolved.

Moi Moi asked if the laser would be effective in reducing her chronic back pain. It does help reduce the inflammation associated with her lower lumbar condition and reduces the chronic pain symptoms.

She has received 3 treatments on her lower back, and has reported an 80% pain reduction.

Thank you Moi Moi for sharing these amazing outcomes. We love seeing that the treatment we deliver can improve Quality of Life.

If can relate to these symptoms and would like to find out more, please call us on 4312 7033.

In recognition of Lymphoedema Awareness Month, Coast Community News has released an article highlighting the work we do to raise awareness about lymphoedema and the importance of early detection. 🙌

Lymphoedema is a chronic swelling condition caused by a compromised lymphatic system and can commonly occur after cancer treatment, impacting quality of life if not managed early.

We’re proud to help spread awareness across the Central Coast to medical professionals and support patients with education, early intervention and specialised care.

Many women struggle with changes in their legs or lower body that don’t respond to diet or exercise. One possible reason is lipoedema, a chronic condition involving an abnormal build-up of fat cells that behaves differently from typical body fat.

It’s not caused by lifestyle, and it’s not your fault.

We’ve created a new webpage to help you understand what lipoedema is, common symptoms, and the support options available.

If something hasn’t felt quite right, you’re not alone - and there may be an explanation.

Today is World Lymphoedema Day, a reminder that you’re not alone in your journey after cancer treatment.

Lymphoedema can appear months - or even years - later. It doesn’t always start with obvious swelling. You might notice:

• Heaviness or tightness in an arm or leg
• Clothing, rings, or watches feeling tighter
• Mild swelling that comes and goes
• Aching, discomfort, or reduced movement

These symptoms are common, and they are valid. Many people experience them, and support is available.

At Cancer Rehabilitation & Lymphatic Solutions, we work with you to manage swelling, improve movement, and support your body’s ongoing recovery. You don’t have to face it alone.

Early support can make a meaningful difference. Book an assessment today and take the first step toward feeling more comfortable and confident in your body.

If you have questions regarding lymphoedema, call us on 02 4312 7033 to book an appointment.
