Sharing for a worthy cause! I do not have any answers for this and I am speechless at the repeated tragedies around the world however I do see the trauma first hand in both the victims in the public and the victims in our brave and often young emergency personnel having worked in Trauma for 30 years now as a psychologist. This to me is not a cultural divide as I have seen immense tragedy in all shapes, sizes colours and religions - hate and stupidity does not discriminate and neither does unexpected and much needed kindness and compassion. So again I am not on a soap box and not purporting I have any answers this is far bigger than any of us but I do know a few things I think. This is not just a scream for better gun control, this is also a need for better police training NUMBERS and support from our government, better protocols for protection and safety for all of our communities in public and defence and strategic review of policy and procedure with a task force that are experienced to proactively address the patterns of violence to protect and serve those who protect and serve. Ask those on the ground not those in the suits AND in the event of such tragedies that are unfortunately inevitable in this insane world better support, treatment, care and unconditional positive regard and durable resources for ongoing quality of life for irreparable and unreasonable sacrifice to ask of any family. My heart is with all the victims…. All the victims.
