Today we said farewell to our lovely medical student Hannah after five weeks with us at Your Family Doctors at Erina. It’s been a pleasure having her as part of the team—her warmth, enthusiasm and dedication to learning were evident every day. We’re confident she’ll make a fabulous doctor and future GP. All the best, Hannah! 😊

🫁 Lung Cancer Screening Starts Now!
From July 1, a new National Lung Cancer Screening Program was rolled out across Australia — and it could save lives.

Australians aged 50 to 70 who currently smoke or have a history of smoking to***co ci******es — but don’t have symptoms of lung cancer — are encouraged to speak with their GP to see if they’re eligible.

Lung cancer screening uses a free low-dose CT scan to detect lung cancer early — often before any symptoms appear. It can identify up to 70% of lung cancers in their early stages, when treatment is most effective and outcomes are significantly better.

Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Book an appointment with your GP
2️⃣ Check if you’re eligible to take part in Lung Cancer screening
3️⃣ Consent to participate and enrol in the National Cancer Screening Registar (NCSR) and get referred for a low dose CT scan
4️⃣ Have your scan
5️⃣ Get your results

It’s simple, safe, and could make all the difference.

Think you or someone you know might be eligible?
📞 Make an appointment to talk to your doctor.

We’ve been reaccredited. Again. ✅🙌🎉
Proudly AGPAL Accredited – Your Family Doctors at Erina.

Every three years, general practices are assessed against strict national standards — infection control, emergency planning, staff training, privacy, patient safety (and more!).

We’re proud to say we passed with flying colours.
No surprises here — just solid confirmation that we’re doing things properly, from behind the scenes to your consult room.

So, what does this actually mean for you?
It means our whole team — doctors, nurses, receptionists and managers — work together every day to deliver safe, high-quality care that you and your family can rely on.

It’s a big tick that reflects our ongoing commitment to doing things well, keeping up with best practice, and continuing to improve.

👏 A huge well done to our team — we’re proud, and you should be too.

WORLD FAMILY DOCTOR DAY 🩺 ❤️

This year’s theme is 'Building Mental Resilience in a Changing World', emphasizing the pivotal role of family medicine in supporting mental health and resilience. Family doctors are often the first to see signs of mental health struggles like anxiety, depression, and stress. Their continuous, long-term relationships with patients allow them to identify and address mental health challenges proactively, improving patients' resilience and overall well-being

The day celebrates the contribution GPs, family doctors and primary care teams make to healthcare system across the globe. They help keep their patients healthy and out of hospital through managing acute and chronic conditions and providing ongoing preventive care.

At YFD we are very fortunate to have such a wonderful caring bunch of GP’s all under the one roof! Thank you for all your hard work and for being the heart of healthcare. 🙏

On the Coast Over 55’s May/June is out now! 😊 This month Dr Georgia writes about ‘Heart Health’ to coincide with Heart Health Week! ❤️

Cardiovascular disease accounts for over 1 in 4 deaths in Australia as is the leading cause of death for older Australians. Approximately 1.2 million Australians are living with heart disease, stroke or vascular conditions. However, cardiovascular disease is largely preventable and by reducing cardiac risk factors, leading a healthy lifestyle and having regular checks with your doctor you can reduce your risk.
