On The Coast Families / April May 2026 edition is out now. 😊

In this edition, Dr Georgia shares a practical pregnancy checklist to guide you after a positive pregnancy test.🤰

A good start is to see your GP for your first pregnancy visit around the 4 – 8 week mark. Your GP can confirm your pregnancy and dates, assess your health and organise routine antenatal tests recommended for your pregnancy. They will also give you information regarding where you can receive your ongoing pregnancy care and where you can deliver your baby.

The government funded flu vaccines and private flu vaccines have arrived at YFD.💉

Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for those at risk of severe illness from the flu. Those eligible for free influenza vaccines under the National Immunisation program includes:
* Children from 6 months to under 5 years
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from 6 months
* Pregnant women
* People aged 65 years and over
* People with serious health conditions (including severe asthma, diabetes, cancer, immune disorders, obesity, kidney, heart, lung or liver disease)
Those not eligible for a government flu vaccine can receive a private flu vaccine at Your Family Doctors for $20.

In 2026, the nasal spray flu vaccine (FluMist®) will be available for the first time in Australia for children aged between 2 – 17 years. In NSW, FluMist® is fully funded for 2 – 4 year olds and available privately for those aged 5 – 17 for $50.

The YFD Autumn Newsletter is here! 🍁🐣
With the seasonal shift comes the usual rise in coughs, colds and viral illnesses, so it’s a timely reminder to start thinking ahead to winter and how best to protect yourself and your family. 😷 🤧
In April, we will once again be running dedicated flu clinics to make it easy for everyone to stay up to date. 💉Immunisation rates were down last year and unfortunately there were two influenza virus spikes in 2025. We’ll also continue offering COVID-19 booster clinics with Pfizer vaccines as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our community protected.

In this edition, you’ll find key updates on this year’s influenza vaccines and broader immunisation recommendations, information about ADHD co-prescribing arrangements, and a reminder that we offer Iron infusions and Aclasta infusions right here at Your Family Doctors for your convenience.

For a short period of time some of our doctors have open books and that time has come again where we need to increase our practice fees to continue to provide quality healthcare. 😊

International Women’s Day – March 8 🌸

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Balance the Scales,” reminds us that while progress has been made, true equity still needs ongoing action — including in healthcare.

Women make up the majority of the healthcare workforce and play a vital role in caring for our communities. In general practice, we see every day the impact of compassionate, skilled and dedicated women supporting patients through all stages of life.

We are very lucky at YFD to have so many inspirational women under the one roof. To all our incredible female doctors, nurses, and reception staff — thank you for being amazing 🙏❤️

An honourable mention must go to Reception who were our runners up with their creative bespoke Christmas tree creation! (especially because they don’t even have a door to decorate!) 🎄🎅🙌

As we edge toward the end of 2025, the festive spirit has well and truly arrived at Your Family Doctors. This time of year always brings a moment to pause and reflect, and we’re grateful for the trust you place in us throughout the ups and downs of life. It’s a privilege to be part of your health journey, and we’re proud to continue caring for our wonderful and supportive community.

In this month’s Christmas newsletter, we have plenty to share. You’ll find updates on our Christmas opening hours, our launch of HotDoc routine requests for your convenience, and information about our onsite pathology service, Laverty. A huge congratulations to our incredible Practice Nurse Lynne Campey! 🩺💙

It was an extremely close call this year with so many outstanding team members, but Lynne managed to pip the rest at the post with her extraordinary efficiency, endless kindness, and truly exceptional patient care. Add to that her legendary ability to multitask like she’s had a triple-serve of Weetbix for breakfast 🥣⚡—and you’ve got a very deserving winner!
