🕶️ Bob is back for Skin Cancer Awareness week.

☀️ Bob is being sun safe and has followed the Cancer Councils advise of Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and slide!

Did you know that two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetimes? Or that less than half of Australian men make sun protection part of their daily routine, despite being twice as likely to die from melanoma?

The good news is that skin cancer is almost entirely preventable, and you can reduce your risk of skin cancer at any age by following the five SunSmart steps.

-Seek shade
-Slide on sunglasses

👨‍⚕️ Men’s Health Matters — This Movember and Beyond!

Did you know that men are less likely to visit their GP for regular check-ups?

This November, we’re encouraging all men to take charge of their health — both physical and mental. 💪

✅ Check in with your GP — early detection saves lives.
✅ Look after your mental health — it’s okay to talk.
✅ Move more, eat well, sleep better — small changes make a big difference.
✅ Stay up to date with heart, prostate, diabetes, and cholesterol checks.
You don’t have to grow a moustache to make a difference — just book a health check and start the conversation.

📅 Book your men’s health check today!

Let’s keep our dads, brothers, sons, and mates healthy for the long run. 💙

From November 1, you might see media stories about GPs “returning to bulk billing”.

We want to be open and honest — this will not apply to us.

At Karalta General Practice, we will remain private billing so we can continue to:
✅ Take the time to listen, care and explain
✅ Offer continuity of care from GPs who know you and your family
✅ Provide safe, thorough, and unrushed medical care
✅ Remain locally owned and operated & supporting our staff.

Government rebates do not cover the true cost of providing quality medical care. We would encourage you to talk to your local federal member if you find that the medicare rebate does not meet your needs.

Thank you for your ongoing support — it allows us to keep providing the high-quality care you deserve.

🫁 Could you be eligible for free lung screening?
The National Lung Cancer Screening Program is now available across Australia — a new initiative to help find lung cancer early, when it’s more treatable.
Lung cancer is our leading cause of cancer death, but early detection can make all the difference. Screening uses a quick, painless low-dose CT scan, and it’s free for eligible people.
✅ You may qualify if you:
• Are 50–70 years old
• Smoke now or quit within the last 10 years
• Have a history of heavy smoking (around 30 pack-years)
• Have no current symptoms of lung cancer
👉 Talk to your GP or visit lungcancerscreen.org.au to learn more and check your eligibility.
💙 Early detection can save lives — maybe even yours.
