RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is a highly contagious virus that affects the nose, throat, and lungs. It often causes mild, cold-like symptoms but can lead to serious illness such as bronchiolitis or pneumonia, especially in:

Fee Increase Notification

From 4 August 2025, Karalta General Practice will be implementing a fee increase.
This decision has been necessitated by ongoing Federal Government policies, including the Medicare rebate freeze and the rebate's failure to keep pace with inflation. Currently, the Medicare rebate covers less than half the cost of our private fees. For example, the Medicare rebate for a consultation under 20 minutes is $43.90—less than 50% of the Australian Medical Association's (AMA) recommended fee of $105.
The rising costs of operating a medical practice make it increasingly difficult to maintain the high standard of care we strive to provide. As such, the majority of our services will now incur an out-of-pocket expense of approximately $50 to $80.
We remain committed to accessible care and will continue to bulk bill the following services:
• Care plans
• Care plan reviews
• Health assessments
• Children aged 12 years and under. Concession rates will apply for high school students who remain in full-time education. Please note that Mental Health Consultations and certain specialised services are excluded from bulk billing.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
